I bought a bag of Victrix German warriors, it gave me just about enough to put together a small band to play Infamy, Infamy. The only thing lacking were a small group of six slingers. I thought I could solve that, as I had a set of Gripping Beast's Dark Age Warriors. The set includes hands for slingers and so I thought by adding some of the spare German heads from the Victrix set I could create a group of slingers that would blend in well with my other Victrix Germans. Turns out it wasn't that easy.

The Victrix heads just didn't sit well on the GB bodies, they seemed too big. Not only that, I felt the GB bodies just didn't seem dynamic enough for the role.

Not happy, I bought a spare sprue of Victrix Germans and based the figures on those bodies, although I quite liked some of the GB heads, which, strangely enough, sat well with the Victrix bodies. The conversions were simple enough and required only minor surgery on a few arms.

These looked much more like the slingers I was after and once painted I could see they fit the role well.

Most importantly, they now look like they belong with the rest of the German warrior force.

Excellent job, TP01. They're impressive figures, mate.

The new figures look very good, and much better than the first attempt!

I'm afraid my initial response would have been along the lines of, "Well, maybe they'll grow on me, and I will like them better in a few weeks (months? years?)," and in the meantime, I just won't use the army. So, congratulations on pressing on and getting them done!

I'm glad to see that swapping out the hands worked out. Once, when I did something similar when kitbashing Victrix sets, I noticed afterwards that the hand from one kit was massive compared to the rest of the model from the other!

Slingers are, IMO, the most under-rated missile troops. Well, in the fantasy games that I play, anyway. They happen to be one of my personal favorites.

Nice conversions, impressive brush-work. I hope they satisfy you on the battlefield. Cheers!
