But this just may be the LOTR post your looking for.

So it seems there are some rumers??? that the war of the Rohanan isn't doing so well.

Who knew???

Most of it seems to centre on waiting for army lists, but where will it end.

The video suggests GW may be killing it off on purpose.

I have mentioned this before, as they have released TOW which has all the same armies, even now Cathay for easterlings.

So there is definitely purpose there.

Honestly, I'm not sure they deliberately tried to make Rohan fail, it likely just running to their pre-existing plan.

I think they planned TOW as a royalty free replacement, but then a new film was coming out and they thought, what the heck.

From my understanding the new film isn't newline, which may explain why they have redone the perfectly fine Rohan warriors, even though there are older figures.

Now they have tied themselves into a new edition through a boxed set for a film that sounds lackluster.

Hey, look, not-easterlings! Rattle, rattle.

PS

Yes, jokes aside, I believe I've heard a lot more hype about Cathay then Rohan.

The recent film was Newline.

Yes, there were Rohirrim already but in a game like LOTR different models can be a real bonus.

I thought it would be priced at ~£100, it was actually £140.00 GBP (on line retailers have it for about £110.00 GBP).

In the end I decided that all I really wanted from the box were the dunlanders, the campaign book and the buildings. And even the buildings weren't that important.

And that felt like £70.00 GBP-80 worth of stuff (to me, no idea on actual list price). I really don't need another set of the rules or a few more dice. And I think that GW's LOTR game is one that people have stuck with so starter sets need to be quite attractive – the pelenor fields set was an awesome selection of figures – as a lot of people are adding to what they have rather than starting from scratch. Maybe they should have dropped a mumak figure with the Rohirrim box?

All humans in the box was a criticism.

They should be available separately.

I think it may have worked out better if it was a parallel box and not the main core box.

They should be doing them like KOW, and just adding extra boxes and changing the books inside when there's a new edition.

Like the scenario boxes, it would be good to have, say, moria, pelenor, helms deep, Rohan, black gates, dead v pirates, so on. As starter boxes.

Opportunity missed.

Thanks for the link. This game is my favorite GW game. Full stop. That said, I was surprised that GW was even bothering trying to breathe new life into it. Even with a new movie that was certainly a gamble (which they lost). So, I'm not surprised to see it dying a slow death; I'm surprised it didn't happen 10 years ago. Oh, I didn't hate the new film. I didn't really like it, but I didn't hate it.
