Ah, 1/32 scale, 54mm Army Men gaming… There is something stirring, for me, about gaming with Army Men figures. These are very nicely painted. Too bad he did not do a grimy wash on the vehicles -- it makes a huge difference on them.

I, too, use square bases, textured. I Hot Glue the figures to 50mm MDF Squares, then I glue mixtures of colored sand onto them, with Wood PVA Glue -- no painting required.

Most of my Army Men are not painted, and I go back and forth on painting them: they are made of HDPE/LDPE plastic, and the paint is super-easy to rub off. They paint up well enough, but the paint tends to rub off after a few years. The vehicles retain their paint much better than the men.
