Evidently, as a response to the US sending ships to naval exercises in the Phillipines.

The Chinese often send ships to "show the flag" (ie intimidate) opponents but not often, this far.

Is this a tactic encouraged by the current US disarray?
Regardless, I think the Chinese can "smell" weakness & it is wise, IMO, to meet strength with strength.

Don't know if it is about US disarray.
China has been pushing and flexing it muscles
for a while now. But I am sure they love seeing
any weakness in the US.

The USN has transferred ships from the Pacfic to the ME to support the Houthi war. No surprise that the Chinese are acting up.

"To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill. So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak." Sun Tzu.

I actually believe copies of Sun Tzu sit on the desks of China's High Command.

The US should look to repairing the damage recently inflicted on relations with its allies. The united front, now dented, has been a source of America's strength.

Isn't China in the Western Pacific, meaning that if they leave port at all they have deployed to ‘the Western Pacific?'

I don't know – you could actually read the article?

"According to Japanese media, a Chinese aircraft carrier—the Shandong—was recently spotted conducting operations involving fighter jets. This latest maneuver places the Shandong east of the Philippines…"

You know, nearer Guam? I *think* this is a bit more confrontational than just leaving their mainland ports.

Or has the White House claimed a call from Beijing to clear the voyage? LoL
