It seems more and more that wargaming blogs have stopped posting or shut down, often with no explanation, their last post being just another post after a long history of activity. Are folks shifting to another sort of media, or are wargaming blogs just dying off? |

I have not noticed this, but maybe I'm not following individual blogs closely. Could they possible have said what there is to say? |

That has happened with my blog -- link --but that was due to a slump in my enthusiasm to paint and post after the death of Lori Brom (my sister from another mister) over a year ago. I still game with almost the frequency but I find my painting mojo (and thus my blog posting) disappeared for many months. Jim |

I have two, the Storm in the Empire dbagora.blogspot.com and the 18th Century Sojourn. 18thcenturysojourn.blogspot.com The first covers all things ancient and medieval, but has paused to make way for the Seven Year War project chronicled on the other. The Seven Years War project has not stalled as rebasing 600 elements, Many needing re-painting and new flags has taken precedent over posting. That should change this week. |

There are so many wargame blogs that while some have been inactive for several years, others are very active. My bookmarks are full of active blogs. There are a few Flickr wargame pages that are similar to blogs, with more photos. link Just select a photo and scroll beneath them and click on read more at the top. |

I started to blog to chronicle my Little Britons project. The project was finished and then I posted AARs of the games my group played and other various wargame stuff. Then other things in life came up and although I'm still wargaming but blogging has been left behind. I think a lot of bloggers just stop or slow down as the motivation to put the effort in is not there. There's quite a few very active and very good blogs out there. I find checking the "My Blog List" will give you quite a bit of content. laststandatcairngorm.blogspot.com |

Here is mine, I post every day and have for over 10 years, with over 35,000 photos. The only time I have not posted was during a time when Blogger blocked me for some unknown problem and after a few months let me back in. I made up the missing posts. I have links to several blogs on my blog, and several have not posted in months, or post only occasionally. I suspect it is because they don't make any money, the owner loses interest, dies, or goes to pod casts or other Social Media. link Mounted Amazons. These are the Dark Alliance figures but on new mounts that are more historical. If mythological figures can be historical. I think they can. Of course, I am using them as the women from Paradise Island to support Wonder Woman so historical versions of mythological figures, based on a comic book, TV show and movies is not exactly using the latest archeological evidence, but there you go anyway. 1/72nd scale plastic figures. The playing card vehicle posting has been delayed for a few days. Plan accordingly. Mike Bunkermeister Creek Bunker Talk blog |

Here is mine: lecoqfou.blogspot.com/?m=1 I find that overall I am posting more frequently. I make my blog posts mostly for myself. It's a journal of what I'm doing within the hobby and it keeps me motivated. Sometimes I refer back to posts to see what color paint I used on a particular unit, or what my approach was on a particular project (and hope that I had the foresight to mentioned these details in a post, I don't always). Alot of my projects take operational pauses before I resume them and this allows me to pick up where I left off. |

Some blogs come and go, some are erratic, but I follow many and the majority are are fairly consistent. I've generally got half a dozen new posts to read each day from various blogs. Mne is here; tgamesweplay.blogspot.com I aim to post around three times a week, a mix of gaming, modelling and game design. There is stuff you can do on a blog you just can't do on forums or Facebook groups, I like the game archive aspect. At the end of the day though, it is a hobby not a job and people will put in as much or as little effort into it these things as they feel inclined to need to do. |
Vis Bellica | 13 Apr 2025 11:47 p.m. PST |
Here's mine: vislardica.com Re-launched in its current incarnation in October 2014, it has a huge repository of almost 1,000 AAR for the TFL company-sized games (IABSM, CDS, Q13 and variants); over 250 reports for the TTS system (TTS, FK&P and variants); and about 100 19th Century reports using a variety of systems. The blog has run a painting challenge for the last 10 years with, in that time, over 100 participants some of whom have entered every year. There are also loads of painting/modelling tips in the descriptions of what I have painted, lists of figure manufacturers (nothing like MadAxeman's supreme effort but still…) and a some more general post as well. I generally update it three times per week (every other day on most weeks) and it's hard work to keep up! As Martin said, however, there's a lot of extra utility you just don't get with FB so, to me, it's still very worth while. |

Here's mine link I try to update once a fortnight or so but sometimes life gets in the way or I just have much of interest to post and it may be longer between posts. Also some of my longer posts for my Darkest Africa project can take a long time to write as they can be quite long and require a decent level of research. |

"This is my online place for writings on: technology, music, history and my hobbies. This site is for notes, asides and assorted resources. I am particularly interested in painting medieval & ancient miniatures for wargaming. My aim is to paint as many miniatures as I can before old age catches up with me. Wish me luck …" blog.vexillia.me.uk |

I'm still active and can get views but not much interaction. I don't do the popular stuff so it spins in obscurity as I flit from one d-tier thing to another. flashman14.blogspot.com Facebook seems to like specialization and my content goes unheralded there too. link |

KeepYourPowderDry | 14 Apr 2025 10:15 a.m. PST |
Here's mine keepyourpowderdry.co.uk Views are steadily increasing, even though I have reduced the frequency of my posts to once a fortnight (I'm running out of stuff to write about). When I started my blog I was told blogging is dying out, yet in 7 years I'm fast approaching 1000000 views. Not bad for a very niche subject. I regularly get comments about how a blog is so much better than FB pages as the information is easier to find, and doesn't 'disappear' once it drops off the front page. So maybe blogging isn't quite dead yet. My only fear is that Google feels the same way as the OP and kills Blogger. |

I run two: 1: My "Little Toy Soldiers" blog which is my main one. You can find it here: link 2: My "Bongolesia Blog", which is currently locked due to a stupid issue with Blogger/Google and not being able to log into it to do anything because it continues to want to use an old phone # that I changed almost two years ago. I will be starting a new one in the near future, but for now here's the link to the old one: bongolesia.blogspot.com |

#Korsun0 – it depends what you use, some are easy, others are not. I started trying to use WiX but was frustrated and ready to give up after several weeks slaving away. (I chose WiX after searching for online blog builders and that one scoring so well, but it was clearly a professional's poll) I then switched to Blogger, and reproduced all I managed in WiX, and more, in one evening. After a bit of tweaking the following day I published my first post. Just give it a try, you might surprise yourself. |
