Looking at doing my Wake Atoll project in 1/600:

One thing that I have seen in regards to bombers is to have a single bomber model represent 2 to 4 bombers. It does change record keeping a little bit since your bomber box diagram will be on a single sheet, along with the plane stats. It worked well. Just an option if you don't want to start of bombers on the table.

Hmmm, Joe, you might be onto something! Would be far more affordable to not buy every bomber needed!

Back in the Old Days…
We would play Mustangs and Messerschmidts in 1/72 scale.
For bombers, we formed a "bomber box" made up of 1/300 scale bomber models. At first it looked a little squirrelly, but with the range scale it made sense and worked.
You could, perhaps, do a similar thing and use the 1/600 bombers with your bigger fighters. It decreases duplication (two different scales of fighters).
The best of both worlds.
