"This is a follow up hypothetical action the next day after the Australian Light Horse successfully destroyed the well here. (See earlier post.)
C SQN/9th Light Horse Regiment, the next day headed off for Bir el Hamma to capture the garrison and return the following day. While the supply column has caught up who have now had arrived at Jifjara, are now waiting for C Squadron to return. Meanwhile, the Ottoman garrison at Berthel Hegaiib has been alerted by the sounds of distant rifle fire, (being only 6 km away) and is about to counterattack to save the precious wells. The local Bedouin tribe has been coaxed into attacking the small Allied force with promise of weapons and booty…"
