Hello All, I'm looking to expand my WW1 collection beyond Great Escape Games 12mm. Without ever having seen Pendraken 10mm WW1 or Kallistra 12mm, I'm wondering if they are compatible with GEG 12mm? I'm not particularly concerned about minor differences (my eyes are bad enough!) regarding size/proportions, but would they generally work together on the table? Any insights and/or comparison photos would be most gratefully appreciated! Thanks! |

Here you go:
(L-R: Pendraken Dragoon kneeling, MM infantry kneeling, Kallistra Dragoon kneeling, Pendraken Dragoon standing, MM infantry standing, Kallistra dragoon standing) From my blog here: link I also have some Great Escape Games 12mm figures. If I recall correctly, they are comparable in size to Kallistra. Perhaps a little heftier and a tad shorter. My 1914 project is almost entirely Magister Militum (now available again as Tenth Legion from Baccus) however they don't make dismounted cavalry so I used Kallistra. Pendraken are definitely on the smaller side and I wouldn't recommend mixing them with either GEG or Kallistra. I should place a few pics of the GEG for an updated comparison picture. |

Don't forget about Van Dyck. IMHO, the best proportioned and anatomically correct of the lot but "thinner" in stature than most. Currently just German and Belgians but there were plans to add British and Russians. (The guy sculpts under an industrial microscope for goodness sakes!) His ancients are the best in any scale! He does a 10mm a/c where the hood can be removed to reveal the engine below!!! |

Dye4Minis: I couldn't agree more. Once I discovered Van Dyck I never bought 10mm German inf from another source! I own 28mm figures which are sculpted worse than these. I hope he expands the range! |

The trouble I have with mixing ranges of different height isn't the height itself – there are soldiers from 5 4" to 6' & taller. It's the equipment. It just doesn't look right to me that the army issued backpacks, bulk-manufactured to a standard design, could be so glaringly different in sizes – some Peninsular Portuguese I bought could've fit TWO of the smaller sized packs! Hats, too, while having different headband sizes, were made the same height as each other. For some people it won't matter, but for me it's not on. Regards, Jae OCD |
