here is a picture of a game terrain layout that I held in my basement game room for the Seven Years War. 28mm Minden Miniatures and Herb Gundt and Ian Weekley buildings.

By the Wargaming Gods I love a fully terrain filled table. |

Simply lovely terrain. I also read the Roman post; that is a magnificent town. |

Simply beautiful! So detailed. How do you do those thatched roofs? They are marvelous and I find myself wanting to try my hand at modeling some. Cheers!

Jim, that is so rich, it reminds me of Munchkinland, from in the Land of Oz! Still, probably my favorite movie too, besides To Kill A Mockingbird (that was in a very different land). |

Herb Gundt made the thatched roofs (and houses). I think that maybe he used Teddy Bear Fur, dipped it into Elmer's Glue, and then combed the fur out and into shape. Herb's style changed over the years. The thatched house in the front left corner is one of his first roofs ever made. Next we have the beige house on the right side of the road where he then set up the thatch in rows. Finally, the half timber house in the middle left of the picture was his final thatching method. The back table features some Ian Weekley made buildings (another one is in the middle distance between the barn on the left and the two story half timbered house on the left. |

Thanks, Der Alte Fritz. I had ordered some 15mm Battle Honors 3D houses and they have thatched roofs but I would like to improve the thatch. I may just use felt and glue perhaps a coat of Mod Podge and a sprinkling of flock and static grass. Then let dry, prime and paint. I have never found a material that looks quite right. I've tried fake fur with water putty and that was ok but for 15mm it's a bit rough. Ive heard that some use towel but once again, probably a bit rough for 15mm. Your tabletop battlefield looks so great and all the thatched roof houses gives it a rural feel. Nice photography too. I dream of such landscapes for my wargames! Cheers!
