Hobby Lobby colored beads. That said, I use little cardboard chits like old board game unit/tokens. It helps to have a chart with color and effect listed.

I mainly use coloured tiddlywinks or tile spacers for this sort of thing, but I also have some 15mm (Peter Pig) and 6mm (Irregular) casualty markers to show disorder. Irregular also make shell bursts, which are useful for showing units suppressed by artillery fire.

Litco makes all sorts of markers and will even make custom ones for a reasonable price.

A second for Litco, a bit pricey but worth it.

You might look on Etsy -- lots of markers/tokens there. If you could use "Battle Shock" tokens, then they would certainly be available there.

Our club prefers to avoid chits. So we use a gray rock, a white rock and a twig/log instead.

I'm a bead (6mm) and tiddlywink (28mm) person myself, but Litko does a nice job.

It never came to fruition, but I had been planning an ACW game. The combat units were to be mounted on rectangular bases. The status markers were to be individual figures on washers.

A figure reloading would be a low ammo marker. Anybody running would be shaken. 2 runners = rout. That sort of thing.

You could also purchase laser-cut MDF rectangles of the desired size (a square is a rectangle, but not all rectangles are squares), then print your own labels, and decoupage them to the MDF. I suggest color laser printed labels, as their toner images will not run when wetted by Mod Podge.

Alternatively, for my fantasy games, I use Goat miniatures, painted, based, to mark units which are Shaken/Disordered; for Routing units, I place a painted, based Chicken miniature next to them. These markers follow the units across the gaming table. Cheers!

I use MDF markers, from vital ground, with casualty figures on them,

Tally Ho!

I use 3/4" lengths of 1/16" balsa painted appropriate colors.

Could go old school and use colored pipe cleaners or paper _ holes?

counterattackbases.co.uk is recommended by Miniature Realms on YT.
