Oddly enough again, the convention (Friday and Saturday), was this weekend, and I saw practically no online mentioning of it, and none here on TMP for a while.
It makes me wonder if the folks running it simply don't want to advertise in order to "keep it small and local to the select crowd", or do they just not think to advertise or post about it to generate more interest and get more players, vendors, attendees?
So for anyone that went, how was it?

I just mentioned to friend I was gaming with yesterday that I have wanted to go but never have gotten around to it. We were trying to remember where in Indiana it was held.

It's held in South Bend, the date is always "the first weekend in April" (per description)….

Thanks, Murphy!

We're not trying to keep it small or local: it just happens sometimes. In this case, the President/Con Director had health issues, so there was less publicity than normal. Hopefully there will be a backup plan henceforth.

That said, always a nice weekend--games, vendors/flea market, lectures on the period and old friends. I fully intend to be back next year.

"First weekend in April" is aspirational, by the way: I think next year it's kicked to the second weekend so we're not trying to hold games on Good Friday.

It is usually on the last weekend of March or the first weekend of April, depending on whether or not Easter falls on one of those weekends. The point is that many attendees can't make it on those weekends due to family needs.

I didn't make it this year but here is a picture of the game that I would have hosted had I been able to go.

That is a lovely table Der Alte Fritz! You Americans certainly like a spectacle!

It is a goal of mine to go, but I fear will never make it. good show by all accounts.

By all accounts I've heard it is a great, focused Convention.
I've always wanted to attend but it is a bit far, especially now. Then there is the fear of getting too close to THAT university.

Shagnasty, if you mean the university where Knute Rockne coached, my son got his doctorate there, and I can assure you that they are not reduced to kidnapping passers-by. (Mind you, even when he lived in South Bend, I had a hard time getting him to attend with me. "Boring linear warfare" he called it. They were sword-fighting up and down stairs this year, and I lost track of Indian raids and ambushes.)

If your concern is that Chicago School economics is contagious, I can only note that it doesn't seem to have infected most Chicagoans yet.

Of course, if the Napoleonics convention in Indianapolis takes off--other than balanced budgets, I'm not sure they believe anything in Indianapolis.

As I am retiring, God willing, in December I hope to make the next one.

It was a great convention, with the bonus of some of the most colorful and exotic historical miniature games. I battled from the Adirondacks, to Europe and then back to Cuba, all in one weekend. Although smaller and intimate it is always welcoming and friendly. My only regret is that I missed the Seminar on American Riflemen, by Jim McIntyre. If you have not attended before, do not miss next year.
