A little story about a terrain making journey with a few orchard trees. Funny how things come around in circles. The full post is here:
That's a small tree….actually, it's quite a big tree

They look fine with the 12 and 20mm I think; 28mm look a little too big.
I have to say across your various posts, your painting and modelling skills are something to envy.

Fruit trees are generally in the 15-20 foot range when mature.

As wargamers we almost always mix, match and bend scales. If your troops are 1" / 25mm a fruit tree should be about 2.5 – 3.25" tall. And fruit trees are small. But our model trees need to be practical. Many deciduous trees reach 50' in height or more. But we rarely use model trees over 4 or 5 inches tall.

Those orchards are lovely and would make any table look better!

Well, I may be the exception but big trees really make a table for me….

Thanks TP!

That was a posed shot I set up for a cover of ACW Gamer Ezine, so unlike your game pics here, not something I could do over the whole tabletop then.

(but I've added more trees since – it's just something that gets into the blood, or comes from our roots – eh?) :)

When I did games based on the Icelandic sagas, I bought N guage model railroad trees to use as stunted Icelandic trees with my 28 mm figures.
I guess I need to buy some bigger trees now that I am gaming other places.
