I've added an addendum to my last post showing the figures as received from Fernando to go with the previous ones that I had retouched. Also, a bit on how they responded to requests for changes.

That was well done. Very informative as to the paint jobs and the varying quality of them. That has been my experience with Fernando Enterprises as well, especially on large jobs. They have several different painters working on them. Some are really good, some not so much.

@Perris0707, I agree with your assessment,

Thanks, but it was really down to ThunderAZ who pointed out how silly it was to show the retouched figures without 'before' photos.

Thanks for the update. It's been over 10 years since I last had a batch painted with Fernando. I had mostly 28mm figures for a wild west game, 28mm figures for ECW, and 28mm Finnish WWII figures painted. All to wargamer standard with the exception of about 5 figures I had painted to regular Showcase level. I was very pleased and impressed by all of the wargamer level painting. The Showcase level had a lot of bright pastel colors and that was a bit odd, but it works. Do a Google image search for "Colorful Hindu Temples" and you will see the exact color palet used for the Showcase models. These models were ECW personalities. Lol. With regard to the Finnish WWII, I had bought a small set of excellently painted ones off of eBay 1st and then included one of them to have the look and color scheme copied with the order. The copy work was excellent. The rest of the ECW and Wild West were painted in the general colors of some printed color pictures I included with the order. The work was great. Oh, I had forgotten I also had some Japanese WWII painted to wargamer also. There's were just OK, but not bad.

It's a bit hard to be sure given the Fernando pictures you posted, but I'll venture to say the wargamer standard quality on my 10+ year old order of about 300 figures was superior to what I am seeing in these photos at Showcase standard.

Has the quality gone down over the past decade or is this entirely due to the individual painter's talent who were assigned?

Thanks for the update.

I agree with you, in that I think they have many painters with a range of skill.
Thanks for the idea of getting very well painted figures to use them as guides for Fernando to copy from.

Characters are predictable in games like poppy playtime chapter 3 where player expectations can lead to conflicting experiences.
