I know its prob common knowledge to veteran wargamers, but its so important i think i need to say it to help newer players. the white masking tape that decorators use to mask windows while painting and things like that, has a great use in wargaming. you can write on it, and it sticks to bottom of miniature, BUT it easily peels off with no damage, its very easy like a less sticky plaster. very usefull for keeping track of whos who on a battle table, you can even use temp for having them in trucks etc… a wargame is much more enjoyable the more organised your troops are |

Good tip. Speaking of organizing troops. A friend of mine was putting his troops away in a very organized way. His 8-year-old niece watched him for a while, and then brightly said, "Oh, your hobby is sorting things!" From the mouth of babes… |

"Oh, your hobby is sorting things!" LOL. Spot on! Masking tape is a good idea. I often use folded sticky labels, but the glue on those can be a bit strong sometimes. |

A good idea. I will give it a try. I have been using the smaller sticky notes that are used for tabs and booking pages in a book. The masking tape idea may give greater flexibility overall |

Half of this hobby is taking things out of boxes and putting things into boxes… |

Just be aware that there is a difference in regular masking tape (which has a stronger adhesive) and painter's masking tape (which has a less strong adhesive). I'm probably sure westernmini is referring to painter's masking tape. Jim |

For my Fire & Fury games, I use removable labels made by Avery and ordered from Amazon. I use larger ones to mark boxes and drawers, in case I want to indulge in my sorting hobby and move things around. |

I am never so happy as when I've finished part of nting a project, put it in its storage box in all it's fresh glory and then close the lid. |

Avery labels for me also, on the magnetic sheet beneath each command stand. I use a white paint marker with a quick notation on the other ones. Command might be: Smith E10/7/5 Sk 60th Line And non-command might be: Smith/60th The latter is just in case stands float about and I lose track of which is which is which when (as per a certain 8-year-old sage above) I put them away. |
