We're "old hands" at the medieval wargaming rules of 'Lion Rampant'. I was keen to add the fantasy element of 'Dragon Rampant'. The game went as seamlessly & enjoyably as you'd expect. The "Plains of Blood" scenario asked each side to slaughter the other with about 50 points of figures. The outcome was close enough to be tense and satisfying for both sides, theminiaturespage.com

"TMP link Although you are allowed to have "reduced model units' in DR, I've since decided that I want all the figures represented. My 'rmu' of trolls now boasts a full 6 figures.A few hand swops etc made them all unique figures.

I love Dark Alliance's figures! Yours look great as if we'd expect anything else! So who did win? Are we seeing all the troops used in the game? I enlarged all the pics to see them better. I just wish there were more!!! Those Trolls look awesome! I love those figs.

Thanks. John |

As always, you're too kind, John. Doesn't look like a lot but it's Dragon Rampant & a BIG 40+points a side. This is getting towards a limit, I think. 'Oathmark' might need a serious look. The forces of Men triumphed. My pals, who may not have been that enthusiastic before the game, were talking about adding a hero or a magical weapon to their medieval forces. |

I have been buying a bunch of their figs for several years now. Many of their sets are just great! I have primed up a ton. I painted 60 or 70 Uruk Hai. I mounted 4 on a 40x40mm base. Not sure if I'll keep that. I see that WRG just released a new fantasy set De Bellis Fantasiae which looks interesting. However, no pdf so far. So I'm not buying. I also like Fantastic Battles. They are quite good. I own Oathmark but haven't played them. I also own One Page Rules Fantasy regiments. I have War of the Ring, Chipco Fantasy and of course Dragon Rampant. We played probably around 6 or 7 games with them. I thought bows may be stronger than they should be. Maybe you just restrict what % of your army can have them. Otherwise, we liked them. I really do love seeing pics of your games. they get me very motivated! Beautiful looking games where the focus seems to be having a good time. Thanks. John |

Funny, I've thought that about missile weapons in LR too. "Maybe you just restrict what % of your army can have them" That's a good thought. In the DR game I've illustrated, the Shadow Riders (with a strengthening spell on them) moved forward, shrugged off the volley of bolts (temporarily armour save '5') & hit them next turn. But that was lucky/unusual. I'd agree the Dark Alliance figures are exceptional. I am so tempted to buy the four sets of Undead for an army. There's tutorials on You Tube that show how you use contrast paint to very quickly get them completed. |

That's a good idea for the Undead! I have 4 or 5 boxes of them IIRC. I can also print some out. I already do old school 25mm. Those Dark Alliance can often fit in with them. I did watch Little Wars TV and their 10mm Helm's Deep game. I own all those files and it got me thinking…..;-D Thanks. John |
