I have just ordered the starter set for this. I have read the core rules and watched some battle reports, and it looks like a game I would like.

Most of my background is Ancients and Fantasy, my current games are Conquest, Carnevale (love the game, the miniatures and the setting), Hail Caesar if I could get people to play.

I also love Infinity, but the seems like a "lifetsyle" game and I no longer have the desire for such complexity, nor the competitive environment.

Other then Infinity, havent played any Sci-fi (Painted a whole SoB army for 40k but never played – like the minis, hate rules). Have not played any Modern games.

So – BLKOUT. Its a short game, the core rules seem appealing and in any case I will love to paint the miniatures, they look gorgeous. The factions seem well thought out. A small US company run by veterans adds to the appeal for me.

Has anyone played and can give their opinions/thoughts?

If you go to their Discord page there is a wealth of information and lots of people to answer any of your questions. I myself do not play but I do play their INX modern rules (InCountry)They have a large foloowing.
