"Battleship Yamato" is a 1953 Japanese war drama telling the story of the destruction of the mighty ship from a Japanese point of view. Of course, special effects are what you can expect from a movie of that era, characters are, IMO, quite conventional, but it provides an interesting inroad into how the Japanese people perceived the defeat, at a time Japan was still recovering and was not yet "kawaï"
