I'm waiting for the first country that's going to several diplomatic relations with the US. They'll point out that they're open to resuming, just as soon as we get a new President. Remember, impeachments work like everything else. Third time's the charm. |

This is The Miniatures Page HMS Exeter not a site exclusively for fantasy. Your comment is puerile and reflects an intense misunderstanding of the US. For a more sympathetic response, try it on the witches, ogres and lycanthropes crowd. |
Nick Bowler | 14 Mar 2025 5:00 p.m. PST |
Except HMS Exeter is on the money. People in the US are just not understanding the impact of the new administration on the US's world position. The US's financial position is deteriorating even faster. Even my pro-trump friend sees the US as being in a death spiral. |
JMcCarroll | 14 Mar 2025 5:13 p.m. PST |
The sky is indeed falling! Or the liberal non in power party will tell you so. Over and over again. I swear if Trump was to find a cure for cancer, the left would only point out all the people whom would lose there jobs! |
pzivh43 | 14 Mar 2025 5:18 p.m. PST |
Nick, not this pro-Trump guy. I've been around a long time, and since the Cold War ended, all the money and blood we've thrown at the world. Tell me what difference it has made? I'm good with taking care of US first. Some nation wants to put a tariff on US goods, fine. Expect a reciprocal tariff on some of your stuff. Aside from a few nations (mostly previous Commonwealth nations), don't really care what opinions other nations have about our politics. |

Gray Bear +1 McCarrol +1 OVI +1 pzivh +1 FWIW as I had said before, in '84-'85 I was assigned to a US Army forward deployed Mech Bn. Just South of the DMZ. I was there 22 months with that Bn. With 2 tours on the DMZ. The US flew the UN flag at our Compound, FOB and Guard Posts. Along with the US and ROK flags. It was a UN mission in '50 when the war started. And many UN forces from many places in the world worked together. That probably was one of the most successful UN combat missions I can think of. However, it is only a truce … we are still in a de facto state of war with the Norks. The UN Flag was there to remind the Norks if you try to cross the DMZ you will be facing not just the ROKs and USA but a number of nations of the UN forces. However, much has changed over the decades. I'm not sure if any other UN forces would come to support the ROK and the US Forces. There I'm pretty sure the Russians and Chicoms would support the Norks as they did in '50. When I was there the only other UN troops, I saw was a platoon of Gurkhas with the US led Honor Co. Stationed in Seoul mostly for D&C, etc. The Co. had a 3 Platoons – 1 US, 1 ROK and Gurkhas. Note also the US forces located in the ROK are one of the few US units actually, if need be, defend against a Chicom move in the theater. Withdrawing for the ROK would only give the Norks and Chicoms a sense of victory. Would the Norks try again to invade the South as in '50 ? Un's daddy and grandaddy wanted to unite the Koreas. Under their Communist tyrannical control. There would be only one Korea. I think at this point any place the US withdraws from would be seen as a victory by our enemies. I'm sure Un knows he may get the first shot. But the USA and ROK(UN ?) counter strikes would turn much of Un's paradise into ruble. Without WMDs … I think Un likes being king. He may not want to upset his party as he has it pretty damn good. But if the US left or was forced to by the ROKs and no UN presents in country. He may just roll the dice. |
korsun0 | 14 Mar 2025 9:13 p.m. PST |
Scenario: ROK expels US. China then attacks Taiwan and NK attacks ROK. Would US have capability to respond to both? |

"I think Un likes being king. He may not want to upset his party as he has it pretty damn good." He won't do anything. It's his sister you need to worry about… |

korsun0 – the US is no partner, they have already threatened /promoised war on Greenland so on Europe> greenland has allies unlike the Us. NoT to mentin Canasa, the next world war will be the rest of the world (including China) against the US and its boss Russia. However we are safer in that most US technolgy is not theirs, Even the M1 has a German gun.

Tortorella | 15 Mar 2025 4:39 a.m. PST |
I think maybe, doc. We are weak because our divisions have been exploited and institutionalized perhaps beyond redemption. We are doing ourselves in from within. We are as weak as we appear because we no longer appear to stand for the values the world looked to us to maintain. Instead….Personal power, greed, propaganda, ignorance. Lincoln called it. Franklin called it. |

Scenario: ROK expels US. China then attacks Taiwan and NK attacks ROK. Would US have capability to respond to both? That may be a possible outcome … So, I'd think the ROKs have thought about that … I'd hope …
He won't do anything. It's his sister you need to worry about…
Yeah he is literally fat dumb and happy. But his sister is a real , if his reports are correct. … they have already threatened /promoised war on Greenland so on Europe> greenland has allies unlike the Us. NoT to mentin Canasa, the next world war will be the rest of the world (including China) against the US and its boss Russia. As I said before you and it seems may Euros don't get how the new POTUS works, makes deals, etc. If you really think the US is going to attack Canada or Greenland, you and those that believe that way don't have a grip on the reality of the situation. No really … And Putin is no more a boss of the POTUS than I am. You really need read more … However we are safer in that most US technolgy is not theirs, Even the M1 has a German gun. You know the M1 is made at a factory about 3 hours from where I live. Interestingly IIRC the US still has more forces than any other nation in NATO. The US is the most powerful military in NATO. The next military behind the US in NATO is Turkey. And again, the US military is the most deployable force in the world. That can deploy large numbers of units over sea & air than anyone on the planet. The Chicoms may be bigger. But they don't have the assets in large numbers for force projection. Unless they are on your border, then generally there is nothing to worry about. Plus the Chicoms have little recent combat experience. Their #1 strength is in their numbers. They make up 20% of the world. Unless there a nuclear exchange … then all bets are off. However, with the Chicom's large population, even some may of them may survive. But for how long …? We are weak because our divisions have been exploited and institutionalized perhaps beyond redemption. We are doing ourselves in from within. We are as weak as we appear because we no longer appear to stand for the values the world looked to us to maintain. Instead….Personal power, greed, propaganda, ignorance I pretty much agree. A very wealthy far left woke progressive socialist minority has managed to do what the Chicoms and Russians have tried to do for decades. We have a 5th Column; the enemy is not at the gate but has already entered, and are roaming free, they are the domestic enemy mentioned in our oath taken in the military. Many are in Congress or big business … We did it to ourselves … well … many of us didn't. We saw what was going on. And yet they got voted in. And those in Congress are still fighting the truth. Supporting the demise of the USA as it was intended to be … |

However, much has changed over the decades South Korea has experienced the same decline trend as Europe in the sense that affluence enabled by the US Security Umbrella has led to complacency and flirtation with Socialism. The Korean War was 75 years ago, most South Koreans have no living memory and cannot believe that the North is as bad as it is…which is why they have elected he Democratic Party to a majority, which downplays North Korea and China as existential threats and seeks accommodation. The recent "self-coup" by President Yoon was a poorly conceived attempt to reign in the increasingly Leftist Democratic Party which had been waging a scorched earth lawfare campaign against Yoon and his supporters and family, and about whom many worry that they are getting too cozy with the North. If the South wants the US out -- fine, deal with what comes afterwards, we'll save between $15 USD Billion to $20 USD Billion a year we can apply to problems at home. |

korsun0 – the US is no partner, they have already threatened /promoised war on Greenland Fearmongering much? The US has not threatened war, Trump is using hyperbole to establish the importance of Greenland in people's minds, and while he said he could see the US annex Greenland, there's no way that will happen. And what has happened is damned funny! Denmark said, No way, Greenland is OURS! Not for sale. Then Greenlanders said, hey, wait a minute, you've treated us pretty poorly and we think Greenland is OURS! We're starting Independence Referendum! This referendum is broadly supported in Greenland and to nobody's surprise it was the focus of recent elections… but to everybody's surprise the Left which favored total independence and vocal anti-Trump/anti-US talk was soundly beaten and a Center-Right coalition took the majority with 60% of seats, which has expressed interest in a range of close US relations, including the possibility of becoming a US Territory… |

"[Trump] has "threatened/promoised (sic) attack on Greenland and so on Europe." Lovely illustration how the Left takes Trump literally but not seriously. A basic and oft repeated error. As the saying goes, there are none so blind as those who choose not to see. |
