They've come up nicely, TP1.

Nicely done

Despite the age difference between the two armoured car kits, I think the old Hasegawa model holds its own.

There's also the skill of the model-builder.

Way back when, when I was just starting to use rules in my games with toy soldiers, I made a Churchill Ark with working ramps from the basic Airfix kit. Why I don't know as it was never of any use in my games.

Ah yes, but you had one if you ever needed one. Sometimes that's all the justification you need.

Very nice pieces of work. Thanks for showing. The subtle shading makes the models lovely.

Actually I do know why I built a Churchill ARK. I was curious enough about why so did some digging and realised it was because there were plans for one in Military Modelling. I had about the first 30 years of the magazine but sold because I was running out of space. But browsing some of the early issues I see so mnay articles that inspired me to build or game something.

Some of the adverts are pretty nostalgic e.g., the emergence of 15mm with Peter Laing!

Well, that was a complete nostalgia trip, I think I owned several of those back in the day. All that scratch building, I forgot how big a part of the hobby it was back in those days. So few manufacturers compared to today. If you wanted it, you had to make it.
