Confrontation in the air and at sea happen frequently. The Chinese are harassment specialists. Tonnage is not entirely the answer, IMO. There are new weapons coming along we barely know about, along with counter measures. The USN has a tremendous firepower and endurance advantage in naval strength for now. We can place surface, carrier, and submarine resources close to China. They cannot do this to us…limited range. Taiwan is not yet within their capacity to attack, IMO. |
