I saw a kickstarter that looked interesting and had some items I hadn't seen elsewhere and had been looking for. I posted here about it, not as an ad (I have no link to the project except potential interest as a customer), but because I thought it looked interesting. I included a link to the page.

That post has been deleted. If I broke a rule it was inadvertent and I apologise. Did I? If so, what rule? Did my post fit the definition of an advertisement?

Cheers,
John

Apparently so.

Hmm, thanks John, it seems I *might* have transgressed against this:

"I'm a fan. Can I promote a new release from my favorite hobby company?
Please don't. If we allow that, it incentivizes non-advertisers to get their fans to post on our forum and get unpaid advertising. Of course, you can still post a review or a game report."

Other questions get a definitive "no", this one gets a "Please don't". And I would argue that I wasn't "promot[ing]" it. I noted that a new kickstarter looked interesting and included items I had been searching for. Oh well. C'est la vie.

Cheers,
John

It's easy to break a rule…there are so many of them. But if WRG taught us anything it was that as a group we need a lot of rules to keep us playing nicely…. grin

I'm betting there's a rule against commenting on the number of rules…

If there isn't, there probably should be evil grin

Better to have favorite hobby company advertise here

Easy to be a fan and want others to be as well without having anything to do with said company.

Erzherzog Johann, we've emailed and PM'd you about this, but apparently you are not receiving our messages.

Bill is just trying to encourage advertising… which is his right.

BTW, Bill I would like to advertise. Please check your PMs.

Thanks. It never made it to my email; I just checked, including Spam etc. I have now seen your PM to me. I'm sorry about this. I thought I was just letting people know about some scatter terrain I'd found and hadn't realised it would be seen as an ad. Thanks for the clarification.

Cheers,
John
