Major Robert Henry Cain was the only man awarded the Victoria Cross during Operation Market Garden that survived the battle. Cain reportedly destroyed 6 German tanks as well as a number of other vehicles and scores of infantry using any weapon system he could get his hands on and in todays episode I share his unbelievable story. And for UK viewers, the father-in-law of Jeremy Clarkson, who made a TV documentary about him. Apparently his daughter (Clarkson's first wife) only found out about the VC after her father's death; he didn't talk about it. |
