The San Antonio TX chapter of the Lone Star Historical Miniatures (LSHM) club ran a game of the Alamo at a local hobby store – approximately 6 miles from the Alamo. Six players took command of the Texans and Mexican forces.

picture

This 20mm model was saved from the trash heap about 10 years ago when the Fort Sam Houston Museum moved locations and the staff was getting ready to throw out the model. Thanks to some local members of LSHM the model was saved and is now used often to recreate the epic battle.

picture

Of course the Texans claimed victory, but were still killed to a man (or figure), but many Mexican figures were also killed in the battle.

picture

One day we would like to play the game on the Alamo plaza, wouldn't that be fun!

Nice save on the terrain! I'd really like to game this some day.

Very nice set up.

Many thanks for honoring the Day this way. I put up my flags but got distracted and forgot to play the great Asleep At The Wheel Alamo album.

One of my gaming highs was putting on a game of San Jacinto on the battleship "Texas" while she was still moored at the battlefield. Remember April 21 as you can use almost all the Alamo figures and the San Jac terrain was simple. Viva Texas!

What scale are the figs? Who makes them?

Thanks.

John

Not sure how or why 3 postings? The figures are 28mm and the model is closer to 20mm, but it works. Not sure what castings they are.

Great story, great photos. Every Texas wargamer should have their own model of the Alamo compound.

Very nice display. I have heard about a model at Ft. Sam Houston in the past, now I know what happened to it!

I also have a complete 25mm Alamo mission model, the one Hudson & Allen (?) made years ago -- I've only got to set it up a couple of times, and only for quasi-historical scenarios, involving fantasy minis, Undead, etc, not a strict historical game. But I have been moving toward that, about half of my Mexican army is painted and all the defenders, in 20mm scale (plastics). The model takes up most of my 6' x 9' table top.

Were they fighting about tarrifs?

Nah, chili. Beans vs. no beans.
