Does anyone have any insight into this new ruleset they can share? They can be seen in a rotating add on their website. $40 USD USD. Thanks! |

Wargame Atlantic has already released several boxes of 10mm Samurai. The Command set was recently released. |

Samurai has never been a steady followed period. SYW would have been a better choice based upon my experience. |

Is it a new rules set? Or is it a new period book to be used with their Pike and Shotte rules? Dave |

PzGeneral – this is straight from their site – "Go all-in on all the new Samurai releases with this convenient collection for Pike & Shotte. Get the all-new Wars of the Samurai supplement, the ultimate guide for wargaming the Warring States period of Japanese history from the 15th to 17th centuries" so I would think its a period book for Pike and Shotte. It's indicated as a Pre-Order, so not sure how many have seen them in advance. |

The book looks like a full size supplement to Pike and Shotte. I've been seeking a good Samurai Wars era rule set for larger battles. I was leaning toward purchasing the rules from Peter Pig, but may try this first. I just haven't seen any info on this yet. |

Warlords newsletter today included designer notes on the supplement link "Wars of the Samurai covers a fascinating period in Japanese history—the bitter, bloody struggle to unite a Japan that had, by the early 16th century, collapsed into a fractured, tortured mosaic of warring states. " … "I likewise included scenarios covering eleven of the most pivotal battles of the Sengoku Jidai, from Oda Nobunaga's remarkable victory over the rival Imagawa Clan at Okehazama, to Toyotomi Hideyoshi's vengeful defeat of Nobunaga's would-be usurper, Akechi Mitsuhide, at Yamazaki, and culminating in the great battle of Sekigahara that cemented Tokugawa Ieyasu as the final "Great Unifier" of Japan. Each battle includes a detailed historical summary, orders of battle for the opposing forces and special rules that capture the specific character and course of that battle. But we know that players want to write their own stories, so I've also included detailed rules to help you create your own battles in the setting and context of 16th century Japan." … |

Samurai has never been a steady followed period. It's had quite a spike in gaming and interest in the last few years. Really started spiking even higher two years ago when the trailers for the new Shōgun series dropped, and has been gaining steadily since then. In Facebook land, the Test of Honour – The Samurai Miniatures Game group is up to 8.8k members, the Feudal Japanese Miniature Wargaming group is up to 11.4k, both are still growing steadily. Sales of 28mm figures in metal and plastic are doing great. It's a good time to do smaller scale ones too. |
