About as historical as Braveheart I know. Stumbled across it while searching my Roku for something else. I remember watching it as a kid in the 60s, although I remember zilch about it |

I'm with mildill and I remember all the others, even the "Gray Ghost" and "Rin Tin Tin". But I think Custer came out in 1967 and I'd have been close to my teens, so probably had other things on my mind. 😉 |

The Legend of Custer 1967 – ran on ABC for 17 episodes. Quite a bit of controversy around the portrayal of Custer and associated events. Had a very large cast with cameos by lots of then very famous and to be famous actors and actresses. Check out the Wiki page for all the details. Not to be confused with F-Troop. |

I wonder how the series ended? |

The show didn't last that long, redcurrent, And I don't think they could have improved on the ending of "They died with their Boots on" anyway. Custer had very nice theme music, and certainly wasn't any more inaccurate than "Little Big Man." Anyone else for "McKenzie's Raiders?" |

I just watched on episode last night Some of the stunt work was impressive. One guy had a horse roll over him. |

Yes, I LOVED that show as a kid. Couldn't wait for it to come on. Was so sad when they took it off. Stupid protesters. |

I notice all of the episodes are posted on You Tube. |

The largely forgotten Wayne Maunder as Custer, and the immortal Slim Pickens as the regular Indian Scout. All Indians carried Remington rolling block rifles with the same sound effect used on "Combat" for the M1 Carbine. I knew taffy was being distributed even then, but was at first disappointed when the nascent American Indian Movement managed to chase it off the tube. Fortunately, not much later I realized that making the "Indins" the unquestioned Bad Guys week to week, with their just defeat at the end of each show, wasn't just taffy, it was poison. Probably the last and greatest TV series to be so utterly blind to the tragedy of it for all parties. Good riddance. And this from a Old Duffer who doesn't believe Custer was a hero/clown/psycho, but an ambitious soldier of his age to be judged in context. TVAG |

I watched it when I was a kid. At first I loved it until I started reading about Custer. Then not so much, even at that age, 9 or 10. Mainly because it was so historically inaccurate. I don't remember the protest against it. I didn't miss it when it was cancelled. |

It was a time of action westerns. I watched a lot on rainy afternoons. I had to play outside on sunny days. I even remember watching a series on Mosbys Raiders. I liked Mosby. Better. |
