Which character from Space: 1999 would you most like to see as a 28mm miniature figure? |

When this becomes an actual Poll, I hope there's an option for "Never watched it." 😄 |

Well, the main bridge crew of Koenig, Dr Helena Russell and Professor Bergman. If just one – then Bergman. Fortunately I don't have to pick as Crooked Dice already do them (but not as far as I can see the Doctor….) |

Never saw the show. I wanted too when I was growing up but no channel on TV showed it where I was. |

Wasn't Maya the one that could change into various animals? If so, she would be an interesting choice. Grelber |

YouTube link My wife and I just finished watching the whole series, one or two episodes per day. It has great special model effects, the style of the clothing and buildings, particularly the interiors are great. The acting is good, the people are pretty. Most of the plots are pretty common science fiction plots, not original, and often not as well done as the original. The show suffers from a low budget, particularly in season two when they cut out a lot of regulars and move to smaller sets. They make not effort at continuity, people come and go at random. They have extensive damage that seems to be repaired without effort. It's not great, but it's not awful, some is even pretty good. Watch it for free in high def on You Tube. Catherine Schell appears in season one in one episode, as the servant of the Guardian of Piri, wearing not a lot of clothing. Then she came back in season two as Maya. |

Brian Blessed was in it twice – the second time as Maya's father…. |

Also available on Kanopy, a streaming service which you might get free through your local library. Surprised no one wants Carter, Kano, Sandra or Paul… |

The Eagle in 1/56 or 28mm. Lynne Frederick's hair. Maybe just a set of 28mm "scale" molds that I can squish over clay on a figure's head to give them 70's hair. I think you get put on a special list if you type "I want Lynne Frederick's head." on the Internet … Extras in jumpsuits with bellbottoms. Zienia Merton. Clifton Jones. Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Joan Collins. Martin Landau and Barbara Bain, I guess… It's not great, but it's not awful, some is even pretty good. Best, and probably most accurate, review ever! |

Joan Collins When she makes her appearance in this episode, I swear they spend five minutes just focusing on her legs. Followed by lots of close-ups on her lovely face. |

I think I was in the room for part of an episode once. But after someone explained the premise, that was pretty much it for me. |

Is the mark9 Hawk a character? More than Brian Blessed guest on that show. You have Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Stuart Wilson, Ian McShane, Julian Glover, David Prowse (in a monster costume) I'd want one of Carter |

The premise was ridiculous – Star Trek at least had the decency to invent a faster than light Warp drive to explain their rapid transit around the endless reaches of space. but…a common feature of Gerry Anderson shows – the vehicles and other "technological gear" looked great. It was originally meant to be part of the UFO universe, so the potential for crossover is there as well. |

In 1999, Moonbase Alpha, nestled in the Lunar crater Plato, is a scientific research colony and watchdog over silos of atomic waste from Earth stored on the Moon's far side. On September 13, 1999, magnetic energy builds to cause an explosive chain-reaction of the waste, blasting the Moon out of Earth's orbit and off the plane of the ecliptic, out of the Solar System. The inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha are unable to return to Earth and must survive on their wandering Moon as it is displaced further into unknown space by freak space warps. link It's not massively different a conciet than many others. I agree with many above that the ships and sets were the stars of the show! |
The H Man | 09 Mar 2025 12:58 a.m. PST |
Star trek requires contact with many humanoid aliens. B5 needs a worm hole. Stargate needs a guy with an orange face, "Aliens!". Terminator needs time travel. V happened in the 80s?!? None very plausible. The moon moving out of the solar system due to atomic explosion seems no worse. To answer the question, I think they were already covered.., by the costume department. |
Sargonarhes | 14 Mar 2025 4:18 p.m. PST |
No, Star Trek Deep Space Nine has the worm hole. Babylon 5 has jumpgates for ships with no hyperdrive. Although rewatching Space 1999 and got to the episode where the moon comes upon a space warp and leaves 1 eagle behind. So that was 1 confirmed space warp they did hit, but it's suggested there could have been others. |
