Very pretty, I always loved these armies!

Thank you Herkeybird. The large games we have, more or less consistently been playing every week have been great.

And, of course, Sassanids and Mid. Imperial Romans always look amazing :)

Very nice but I think it would look better with Impetus style basing. WAB basing really diminishes the figures in my opinion.

Thank you for your comment, appreciated.

Not all my miniatures, nor my friends are based for WAB. Having said that, WAB is the "go to" ruleset at our club and I would not be playing many games if I didn't base for WAB. It's more out of necessity than preference. I do agree with you when it comes to WAB basing- it looks a wee bit messy and can prevent one from telling a story.

My normal "vignette" style of basing is as below:

I am familiar Atheling with your work. And your examples are as good of proof as any for the superiority of Impetus style basing over other approaches.

Many thanks Marcus Brutus. I fear we are trapped in a mini time warp when it comes to ancients at our club.

mind, I should say, I speak for myself when commenting on the rules- we still have a lot of fun when playing the games.

Other Ancients are played at the club too

We have a DBA 3 competition in full flow and a Biblical era Midguard was on table the other week. Lion Rampart also gets a good run out.

The Impetus bases do look fantastic

cheers

The thing is; I have not been invited to play Midgard at our club. Just saying! One cannot just walk up to folk and join in.
