That's a great advertisement for playing that period. Might have to get me a set of those rules. How many figures did that scenario use, if you don't mind me asking?

I don't know the exact number of figures in the scenario. Here is the OB for both sides.

they are a difficult set of rules to find, even with your links. I have had no luck.

Contact the publisher and ask them to do another run of the rules.

As an alternative there is "Rank & File" I have the rules but I have never played them. From reading them they would some tweaking to make them work.

Here are some other rules to consider.

Principles of War: 19th Century Colonial

"Black Powder (2nd Edition) – Colonial Supplement"

"Battles for Empire"

"Rank & File"

There is the Men who would be Kings, Field of Battle by Brent Oman (a favorite of mine) and The Sword and the Flame.

Thanks.

Wrong scale.

We are playing battalions and commandos. Three figures to a stand. Four stands to a battalion or commando. We are playing medium and large size battles which are (IMO) unsuited for skirmish rules. Even some of the small battles are a little big for skirmish.

TSTAF is not originally design for the 2nd Boer War but it certainly can be modified to do so. Some of the late gorilla war tactics would be perfect for TSTAF.

This is not a run of the mill colonial war. The British sent 500,000 soldiers to South Africa.

Rank and File is one of my favourite rules sets; I should have thought of them but I associate them with Horse and Musket, just shows how unfamiliar I am with the Boer period. They should do nicely, an excellent suggestion!

@John Leahy – I like "the men who would be kings" but the scale is probably not right. Thanks for the suggestions though.

I have used TMWWBK for quite large battles in the Sudan. It easily scales up.

Thanks.
