As I am about to paint up some figures to represent the military police in 6th Airborne Division, I wondered whether they were parachute trained or not. I have not been able to find a reference to this aspect of their training nor an appropriate picture. Also the unit title seems just to be '6th Airborne Division Provost Company'. Does anyone know whether they were para trained and thus wore wings? |

I can't speak about this particular unit, but some Red Caps assigned to airborne units were airborne qualified. A very small number jumped into Europe, and some went in with the gliders. |

Got this: "Corporal Thomas Joseph Henderson served with HQ 245 Provost Company, Corps of Military Police attached to 6th Airborne Division and took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy on 5-6 June 1944. Corporal Henderson died on 7 June 1944, aged 31 years old. He is now buried at Ranville Churchyard, near the War Cemetery, in Normandy." So, probably yes. |

1st and 6th both had Divisional Provost Companies that would have had many (most?) jump-qualified men. Para Brigades also had Provost sections or companies that would have all been qualified. One does also occasionally encounter Provo companies that have a Parachute Section. So you have plenty of options! |
