The fabric-and-craft store chain is closing all locations following a second bankruptcy. Get your hobby supplies while you can.

Always sad to see a shop close.
It was the ambition of people.

True, Martin.

Way ahead of you, Bill.

Also, my local Wal-Mart has gotten rid of thier fabric department. Just pre-cut pieces for sale now.

I have bought fabric there to use to mark woods and to cover my Geo-Hex hills. Lately I have been buying fabric at Hobby Lobby but I will check out the sale at Jo-Anns. Too bad though.

The other day I saw a headline of an article that Joanne's has been bought. I did not click into the article because of time issues. I am hoping that the article was true. If so, then only only time will tell when we learn which stores will stay open, and which ones will close

Evidently the sale was to some sort of broker firm to sell off the assets, myxemail. Last word I had was that all stores would close.

Yup, stores are closing.

"Hey Google, are there fabric shops near me?"

We have a *great* fabric shop near me. Teddy Bear fur in various colors, cotton prints for oceans, deserts and tree bases, grays for city bases. I always find something useful there.

Went in yesterday. At this stage on 20%-40% off, and not all items marked that way. Honestly, I could get the same or better deals at Michael's or Hobby Lobby.
I'll check again. Got my eye on some plastic models— Flying Saucer! (Very ‘50s) Monitor and Merrimack (CSS Virginia) set. Also a light blue, mottled fleece that could be either a sky or water. Maybe some brushes and paint and primer.

All the Lego were gone. Had some Chinese knock-off for Technics. Probably not worth the price, even on clearance.

I got a couple fabric remnants for ground cloths. Will probably go back when the deeper discounts hit to look for distressed brown and green (maybe white or blue) and some teddy bear fur.

They also had easter garbage that was on par to selling the same crap after easter. I got some carrot shaped plastic eggs to go in the field next to my giant turnip.

Our local was mobbed the other day, and we couldn't spare the time to wait for fabric cutting, that line was backed up halfway across the store -- even the line to check out (with only two cashiers working) was nearly two dozen deep. Sad to say, the craft paints were pretty well denuded and I couldn't find any useful plastic storage bins remaining. But the wife was happy to stock up on sewing threads and notions. I got a few paints and some colored pencils. And a little beanie bear thing I took pity on.

Damn, first The Rag Shop, then A.C. Moore, now JoAnns! All that's left in my area is Michael's, which I really dislike.

My closest store has been on a steady decline two years. Understaffed, untidy, increasingly bare shelves. Sorry to see the company go under but it appears this has been in process quite awhile.

Hobby Lobby replaced them and Walmart for me years ago. Michael's will be next.

Augustus09 Mar 2025 3:32 p.m. PST

Hobbly Lobby finally brought them down i guess.

Thanks for all the Macross models way back when Joann's, still remember that haul today.
