Did anyone notice or remember that this week is the 34th Anniversary of the commencement of ground operations in Operation Desert Storm?
Or has it slipped in minds so quickly?
Just wondering….

One of the lads at our club was in a Challenger during that operation. Though he was scared that any minute something could have got him (the tankers all felt that a modern battlefield makes tanks a target for everything!) by the end, they felt more sympathy for the enemy tankers, who really didn't stand a chance.

When I remember it, it seems like yesterday. Our forces seemed much more capable then. I'm wondering how they will fare against China. The Chinese were carrying out live fire exercises in the Tasman Sea this week.

I was with H Battery 3rd Battalion 14th Marines. A reserve unit from Richmond, VA. We were part of 1st Battalion 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division for the war. And yes, it feels like it was yesterday.

As long as I have a functioning brain cell I will remember.

I remember my neighbor who had recently gotten out of the Army and had just finished his first semester of law school being worried about being called back.

I was already thirty-something. Heck, I'm old.

I wonder if those armour battles are a thing of the past with modern drones and missiles?

I wonder if those armour battles are a thing of the past with modern drones and missiles?

I remember them saying that with the introduction of the ATGW systems in the 70's.
I rather suspect AFV's will evolve again to counter this new threat?.
