I've been working on the section of road heading south linking Mont St Jean farmhouse to the crossroads. Liam has worked his magic with a series of waggons and caissons which are shown congesting the road. My feeling is that given the mud, these would have avoided moving cross country until absolutely necessary. Flanking the road on either side are Trip's Dutch Belgian Heavy Cavalry brigade to the West, consisting of the three regiments of Carabiniers and to the East Ghigny's light cavalry brigade consisting of the 4th Light Dragoons and the 8th Hussars. Each regiment is shown with just two squadrons – the remainder of each regiment will be shown on the flanking sections when they are built. These are painted by Andre. He paints in exquisite detail and in huge numbers – they are a real pleasure.
The model is getting too big to show in my shed, so I took a moment between rain showers to take it outside.

It looks like a museum piece. What do you do with something of that size? |

It needs a large museum, but we have faith in the Boss. The original Siborne Model is puny by comparison (and was forced to exclude much of the Prussian contribution). It is so rewarding to see one's efforts suddenly in such a setting and not just on a desk top. The Netherlands cavalry units are just superb. At rest we rarely see for mounted units, but they do just "look right" |

Another Herculean effort from the good Captain and team. The logistics is usually overlooked but this is a fitting tribute to this essential arm of service. Chris |

Funny how one missing comma can make something quite unintelligible. I read my last and asked myself what was I thinking as I typed it. Ah. Got it. "At rest we rarely see, for mounted units, but they do etc……." More logistics a-coming. You always see them for the French Imperial Army, rarely for the Allies |
