Since it the anniversary of the start of the battle for Iwo Jima and I just finished this book I thought I would post a recommendation.

Unknown Valor: A Story of Family, Courage, and Sacrifice from Pearl Harbor to Iwo Jima

link

"In honor of the 75th Anniversary of one of the most critical battles of World War II, the popular primetime Fox News anchor of The Story with Martha MacCallum pays tribute to the heroic men who sacrificed everything at Iwo Jima to defeat the Armed Forces of Emperor Hirohito—among them, a member of her own family, Harry Gray."

I know it's been out awhile but it never hurts to be reminded.

Talking of the Pacific I'm two thirds the way though the trilogy about the US Army in the Pacific by John McManus.

Fire and Fortitude, Island infernos and To the end of the earth.

Found them a fascinating read, The author manages to get the balance about right between the generals making the decisions and troops doing the fighting.

King Monkey +1. John McManus is a frequent guest on the UK podcast "We have ways" which deals with all things WW2. Very worthwhile listening and he is as eloquent in speech as in writing.
