I recently purchased a chaos army on eBay.

After receiving the box, I opened it to discover all the plastic and metal figures clumped together in groups of 5-10 figures amid bubble wrap and paper.

The metal models had fallen apart. A plastic figure broken.

Gets worse.

The seller mentioned 2 missing bits, all figures complete otherwise.

In fact a bunch of shields were missing (undercoat gaps/glue evident) and majority of horses were without tails! And a missing base.

Upon contacting the seller, he was keen for a return and refund, despite the listing clearly stating "returns not accepted."

However, I like my army, I just need some shields and tails that, by sellers own writing, they were supposed to have.

Seller not at all keen on part refund to pay for replacement parts.

Hmm…

Interestingly the army sold for near twice what I paid (both at auction) on Dec 31 2024. Obviously there was some issue and the sale was cancelled/returned.

Was this you? Ask your friends (likely Australia) I would love to speak to the previous buyer.

It is obvious the seller just wants it back to try to auction to another mug for more money.

No chance.

I have had sellers do this before.

They sell you an item. Don't disclose a problem. Then want a return/refund. They DON'T want to do a part refund. Then they can sell it again and try to get more money/find a buyer who won't complain about the problem.

An action figure with bent legs, a hand held with pixel issues (got a minor part refund, seller not happy).

I have a bazillion positive feedback, seller about 12, so I feel I can win that battle, if that's what it comes down to.

Read my issues above V what is he going to say?

Hand held guy said "not happy with this buyer." Yes, because he had to pay a (too small) part refund for not disclosing messed up pixles.

Do not let these sellers get away with it.

It's great that they offer a return, of course. But a part refund to solve a problem they caused is also reasonable.

How the heck can someone miss missing horse tails? Shields when they already state 1 is missing.

While you can see the shields off in the photos, like other bits that were off but still actually supplied, there are no photos of the rear of the horses at all.

A developing situation.

I have prices for replacement parts. May give seller a couple of days before providing the final costing for replacements.

If that comes to nothing I'll get onto eBay.

I would probably ask for X amount of dollars as compensation. The amount I ask for would be dependent on the auction price, what I think the troops are actually worth, and what replacement parts cost.

I bailed on ebay years ago, because "people".

The H Man18 Feb 2025 10:01 p.m. PST

True.

But prices can be good, especially at auction, like these for the price I paid.

I won't say cheap (GW), but within the realms of what I would pay for them. Which is almost half the last guy, apparently.

Ah, if those little corrupted chaps could talk…

79th,

I'm just looking at the part costs. See, I'm not even adding sentiment. Trying to keep it as undeniable as possible.

As long as I get what I was promised I'm happy.

If you are not happy with the items that were sent to you and the seller is offering a refund, my advice is to take it.

That would of only procure negative feedback, as he wasted my time and won't have an army.

I'm just waiting to hear back re horse tails. May need to post on con af about that if not soon.

He clearly stated in the description that one arm (not that I see), and one shield are missing.

5 shields, 8 horse tails and a base are missing.

A glaring inconsistency for which I am not at fault.

I'll be contacting him soon, as I at least have a calulated amount for a suitable part refund.

If I don't hear back, or he won't co-operate, I'll go to eBay.

The proof is all there. Plus the fact it was previously sold for near twice as much, that went wrong. eBay will be privy to any messages or details about that. And the fact he had sold it for much more adds credence to my belief he just wants it back to sells for more money.

And I have a longer record with many many times the positive feedback (even offer of protection in prison showers), so I feel I am in a great position to stand up to this type of seller, not just for me, but for all buyers.

PS

I'll also add that he's not the one running around trying to sort out replacement parts. As I've done a lot of it on eBay, they will see all the messages, watched items, so on.

Seller, from my understanding, has done nothing but tell me my future purchases have nothing to do with him.

We shall see.

They definitely will re feedback.

Have contacted seller with the replacement price.

Still awaiting reply.

The H Man01 Mar 2025 10:23 p.m. PST

Still no reply.

Sent a follow up message to see if they got the last one.

No reply as yet.

In the end I left negative feedback.

He happily left his customer with an army with a problem that he created.

Could I have sent it back for full refund?

Sure. But then I would have no army and he would try to sell it for more to another unsuspecting victim. And he'd still get negative feedback for wasting my time.

I have my army and he has the feedback he deserves.

The world is at peace again.

Yeah I really don't like those types of seller.

They sell you a faulty item at action for a terrific price, then only want a full refund for return when you catch onto them, so they can sell it to someone else for more.

Not bleepy likely.

Especially when there's a simple fix, like ordering some shields and tails.

Don't let them get away with it.

Every item sent back due to obvious seller deceit that could be easily rectified with a part refund is only granting them permission to keep doing it.

And it doesn't look like it would take many strong individuals to make them think again.

Don't just bow to them, stand up to them.

"I'd like to buy the world a coke…"

Probably more Scott does Apple, in the end.

I didn't win, don't think I think that based on my dramatics, but like those chaps who ran up those beaches and didn't make it, we yet may.
