Blame the new mat….. sounds like a Cannae sort of battle; occupy the legionaries with a thick wall they cannot break through, then cavalry to the rear. | | 79thPA | 17 Feb 2025 10:46 a.m. PST

It sounds like a pretty tough fight right up to the point that the Romans collapsed. | | Bolingar | 17 Feb 2025 10:30 p.m. PST

Sure caught me by surprise. The legions usually win in a straight-up frontal fight. Peter finally found the magic formula to beat them. Going over the game afterwards, I felt the legions were a bit underpowered when it came to missile fire, scoring only one missile hit per shot against the Poeni and the Warband. Poeni, OK, they were well-armoured, but Warband are pretty unprotected and should have taken more damage. Checking back to previous games Warband usually took 2 missile hits per shot (except the elite and well-armoured Soldurii). That means they will get at least 4 missile hits – enough to knock off a morale interval – before they can close with the Romans. I'll implement that next time and see what Peter devises then.
