I was wondering if anyone has done a size comparison of Battle Honors 3D 15mm and 18mm Napoleonic miniatures. I would be interested in ordering some of the figures in their range but the 15mm Napoleonics would have to be compatible with Minifigs and Battle Honors 15s. I'm especially interested in the French troops in bicornes. The range appears to be very detailed and I am tempted to try these plastic 3D printed figures. I notice that they make Spanish guerillas and even fighting monks. Also, they have very nice mounted officers and of course, the Emperor himself. A little different, are the French Vivandiers with their small casks of strong drink to dispense to thirsty buyers.

I should point out that the figures are designed by Gordon Kitney.

Here is a link to their website:

I am hoping that the figures would mix in nicely with those I already have, but since Battle Honors 3D gives me choices, I am left pondering if 15mm would be too small or 18mm too large.

Battle Honours do a variable scale, just measure from the base of the foot until you reach the bridge of the nose, and they can do the figures in that scale.

I had some done in 17mm, as my light cavalry would be on smaller horses. They were very well done.

Highly recommended.

Hello Redcurrant,

I didn't realize that I could request a custom scale. 17mm, huh . . . Do you think 17mm would be compatible with 15mm Minifigs? The bulk of my 15mm Napoleonic stuff is 3rd generation Minifigs.

Not knowing how 3rd generation Minifigs would match up, the best way is to measure from the base of foot to the bridge of nose.

The only thing that I can think of is that the swords and scabbards are in proportion to the figures, so would therefore be a little bit smaller.

You can always ask them if they can do 15mm, 16mm, or 17mm. They are happy to help.

I kinda like the idea of 17mm because if I were to guess the foot to nose measurement of 3rd Generation Minifig Napoleonic infantry, it would be about 17mm. I will have to email them and see if they would print the figures in 17mm. After seeing all they offer, I would really like to buy several items. I can imagine they might be the ones to make items that aren't available anywhere else. An example of this would be a set of Napoleonic era civilians, men, women and children.

Those are some lovely-looking renders, be careful though, very often the figure isn't as detailed as the 3-D render. I would place a small order first (or find somebody that has them in hand) just to be on the safe side

I was able to find an image online of the Battle Honors 3D Napoleon Bonaparte figure painted. Terrific detail and proportions. I can imagine pewter metal figure manufacturers toying with the idea of 3D printing the original, computer designed figures, then making molds and casting them in metal. It is the next logical step. I'm sure plastic is convenient but many traditionalists will want pewter.

I agree Anton, I would not start out ordering too many. My main purpose would be to find a scale that is compatible with the figures I already have.

Cheers!
