I wondered if anyone knows if the titles by Richard Humble – 'Napoleon's Peninsular Marshals' and 'Napoleon's Peninsular Marshals; a reassessment', offered by two different publishers, are actually the same book but with one publisher adding 'a ressassement' to the title? I've been unable to find anything different about them, other than the different publishings firms and dates. |

I believe that they are the same book. My copy is titled "Napoleon's Peninsular Marshals" on the dust jacket, but the title page reads "Napoleon's Peninsular Marshals: A Reassessment". In the prologue he writes about why he wrote the book but doesn't give any indication that it is a reassessment of a previous book. My copy is by Taplinger Publishing Co., 1974, and copyrighted by Richard Humble, 1973. |

Thanks for info William. And yes, it does look like the 'Reassessment' version is the same book but with the extended title. I can't find any reviews or anything that suggests it is a 'reassessment' of the earlier publication by a different publisher. Going by the title you'd think it would be? |

Just did a search on TMP and found the book briefly being discussed (29th June, 2010). It looks okay, so I might give it a go. It is a second hand book so does not cost much. |

Thanks for book list. The book in question was mentioned when I was researching something concerning the Peninsular War online and I found a 2nd hand copy offered for £3.50 GBPp, with free postage. |
