It looks like the NK Army is still training for their last war and human wave assaults. Do you think they will learn anything from their experience in the Ukraine? At a minimum, you would think they know they have to figure out drone warfare, but maybe not. I read an interesting book about armor combat in the Spanish Civil War, and the Italians left that conflict still believing that their L3 series of AFVs was right where they needed to be despite its inadequate performance, so there might be a similar thought process with the NK Army. |

Do they have any experience in the Ukraine? I thought they were fighting in Russia against the Ukranian-controlled pocket. There's probably some nice hair-splitting definition that by doing so they (NK) aren't actually declaring war on Ukraine. |

I will be a bit surprised if the returning NK troops, those that survive, are not isolated and virtually imprisoned upon their return. Un and his DPRK are paranoid (possibly a genuine understatement) in the extreme and any contact with corrupting outside influences likely renders them contaminated. |

Yes as many pointed out. Many of them will not make it back to North Korea. And those that do will probably be isolated. Their best option is to surrender to Ukraine's forces. However, they are very well indoctrinated. So many will be glad to die for Un. And will … When I served in the ROK, '84-'85, the North was primarily a Light Infantry force. With a lot of FA and little Armor. However, today they have increased their AFV inventory substantially. But AFAIK they did not deploy any of their Armor. That must be ready to invade the South or defend from the ROKs and USA. Doubt the UN would play much of a part as they did '50-'53. The Russians were supposed to provide Armor support I'd expect. But as we see the Russians have taken huge losses of the Armor forces. Plus as we see the Russians really don't fight combined arms doctrine very well. E.g. in 1979 when the PRC invaded Vietnam. And they had a number of Armor units. It was observed that the PRC were using similar tactics as they did during the Korean War. Over a couple of decades previously. Wave attacks were still in use. In the case of North Koreans, I'd suspected and as we see. They're combat capabilities have not evolved very much. When they believe they have the numbers to take high loses. They will not really use advanced tactics, etc. Plus we see the Russians employ little tactical expertise in modern mobile combined arms maneuver warfare … As again, they believe they have the numbers to be successful. No matter how many losses they take. |

It would be interesting to know about those Koreans who killed their Russian comrades and escaped to Belarus… I imagine that the commanders in charge of the Korean contingent will be giving certain explanations to God Kun for their defeat… About his new "expertise" I am not sure that it will be of any use in Korea because God Kun will surely blame his commanding officers or the Russians themselves, maintaining the code of war that has led him to eternal glory for decades. I think that if they return… they will have to go through a difficult period of brainwashing and payment of guilt as the Russian soldiers who were exchanged and are still in the limbo in Belarus … Armand

Guys the sad part is, no matter what, conflict does improve the potential fighting ability of the parties involved. The Russians are not the same inept army of the start. The same with the Ukrainians. Modern war seems to have become a war of massive munitions usage in a short period of time and mobility is adversely affected, especially with the influx of cheap drones and other mechanized death. All of which will become more deadly with improving AI. |

The first visitors are happy with the low prices and high level of service: link Russia and North Korea have signed an agreement on the possibility for North Korean workers to work in Russia. All of which will become more deadly with improving AI. Yes, like the SCW before WWII, many of those who would fight WWII gained some incites, lessons learned etc. We always thought that is WWIII broke out. The use of ammo, repair parts, etc. would be expended very rapidly. The modern weapons systems are very deadly. We were talking about this in the '80s. Now it seems that appears to be true.
Of course, back then Drone tech was still in its infancy. No one ever thought it would have as big of an impact in war as it does. Like with the introduction of aircraft and tanks during WWII. It changed the paradigm of the way war was fought. And Yeah … Kimchi sucks !!! 🧄 🤢 |

korsun0, if Ukraine and the West wanted to avoid war, there would be no war. All that interested Russia was Ukraine's neutrality. The West and Ukraine chose confrontation with Russia. Well, everything has its price. It was a bad choice. If the Koreans wish to stay in Russia, no problem. Many Koreans have been living in Russia for a long time and even now. But I think that close economic relations with Russia will return North Korea to the times when it surpassed South Korea in terms of living standards. This was not so long ago – in the 70s of the last century. |

@cuprum2 -mate, in the years since communism in North Korea, there is a difference in the height/weight of comparable age groups. Nth Korea is a Medieval rural society which props up a political elite who control everything. Why should Ukraine as a sovereign country not be allowed to join a defensive, repeat defensive pact. Why did/does Russia have the right to dictate to Georgia, Moldova and now Ukraine which parts of their country they can have? Why does Russia occupy the territory of other countries, and if Belarus ever get rid of the murderous prick Lukashenko, and are free, i bet Putin would intervene. Putin is stuck in the past, when the Soviet Union was in place. He longs for Communism. He had the chance to become powerful through trade and development, but Russia is a slave to him. Tell me if you can protest in the streets? Why do you need a VPN, when I can say what I want about my government online. |
Cuprum2 | 13 Feb 2025 11:04 p.m. PST |
Tango, I was talking about the North Koreans moving to Russia. And I was talking about the fact that there WAS an economic advantage, although the West is diligently hushing up these facts))) And it is not surprising – South Korea was a backward state on American payroll under the control of dictators. And even now almost every ruler of it is sent to prison after their presidential term)))
"By the 1960s North Korea was the second most industrialized nation in East Asia, trailing only Japan. While a number of internal limitations appeared, such as in the production of consumer goods, the national standard of living was considered by many third-world nations as an alternative to the capitalist model of development sponsored by the United States. Building upon the ruins left by the Korean War, the North Korean economy by the late 1960s provided its people with medical care, universal education, adequate caloric intake, and habitable housing. By the early 60s, many thousand ethnic Koreans in Japan began to migrate back to North Korea, where they believed they had greater opportunities. An estimated 90,000 ethnic Koreans living in Japan (zainichi, long term Korean residents of Japan who trace their roots to the period of Japanese colonialism in Korea) returned to North Korea mostly from 1956 to 1965. As the harsh living conditions spread, repatriation declined sharply, though it continued as late as 1984". link I'm not going to argue about the Koreas – I'm not very interested in that. But with economic aid like the one South Korea receives and has received from the US, North Korea can achieve a lot. |
Cuprum2 | 13 Feb 2025 11:20 p.m. PST |
korsun0, since the fall of the USSR, North Korea has remained under huge sanctions, which only China does not comply with. Even Russia has denied trade and economic assistance to North Korea since the 1990s. The West is trying to deliberately starve people in North Korea in order to force them to overthrow the existing regime. In fact, this is aggression, an economic war that has been going on for several decades. Look at Vietnam. It is also a communist country, but the West is not waging war against it – both the standard of living and economic development there are quite satisfactory. Can Panama use its legal channel as it sees fit and enter into agreements with whichever party it sees fit? Or can it be subjected to pressure from some third party? Tell me, why did the West destroy Libya, destroy Iraq, Yugoslavia? You are asking meaningless questions))) It is more convenient for the West to achieve its interests by economic pressure, for Russia – by military pressure. I would be happy if Putin yearned for communism. But alas… Bloodthirsty bastards rule Ukraine. I have never heard of Lukashenko waging a real, full-scale war against his own citizens, using artillery, aircraft and tanks, unlike the rebels in Kiev who have been doing it for 14 years. Can Ukrainians protest in the streets? I have a VPN to view some sites banned in Russia. Much like you have banned Russian media. Why repeat the same thing over and over again? Most of your claims are based on poor knowledge of the subject matter, and you don't believe me. So we are just wasting our time. It doesn't make sense to ask general questions. Let's look at the details and concrete facts – that is much more interesting. |
korsun0 | 14 Feb 2025 5:19 a.m. PST |
Don't get shirty mate, because I disagree does not give you the right to decide what is said or not. Your 'facts' are equally . NK – sanctions yep. But how can the leadership be so fat and healthy and lacking for nothing, but the people starve? Why are the people stunted and malnourished but the leaders are not? Panama can do what it wants with the canal; no problem there. Getting out of Chinas belt and road initiative was a good idea because they are debt traps (look at Sri Lanka). So Panama has my blessing to do what it wants. Libya was a WOFTAM, should not have happened, I agree. I also think Iraq was under control with no fly zones north and south and a toothless Dictator. I have said before about Iraq and Libya, I don't agree with what happened there and it bred a whole lot of trouble for the world (ISIS etc.) Yugoslavia – do you now deny ethnic cleansing of Bosnians? Serbia was a bloodthirsty state and needed to be calmed down. The rest were no angels but they stopped when threatened. I'll disagree with you on that one. Lukashenko just imprisons and beats his people, lots of them. Ukraine fought against Russian backed separatists, nothing wrong with that. Bloodthirsty bastards? Russians kill people "No problem", but anybody else "they are bloodthirtsy bastards". Ukrainians did protest in the streets and got rid of the Russian lapdog in 2014. They don't need to protest now, they have a democracy. I haven't banned Russian media; I watch it every now and then for a laugh. Don't insinuate I am ignorant old chap; he who turns to insults, as you did, is the one without knowledge, without a coherent argument and trapped in his own . |
Grattan54 | 14 Feb 2025 10:31 a.m. PST |
The West did not destroy Yugoslavia. That happened internally. When Tito died and the various ethnic groups no longer wanted to be part of a Serbian dominated state. Various areas broke off. The West had nothing to do with that only only intervened to stop the brutal ethnic cleansing that was taking place. Also we did not destroy Iraq. We took out a dictator, rightly or wrongly. Then we spent billions rebuilding Iraq and stabilizing the country. |
Cuprum2 | 14 Feb 2025 7:23 p.m. PST |
korsun0, I did not intend to offend anyone. If my words sounded rude somewhere, I apologize. English is not my native language. The leadership will always and everywhere be supplied better than the bulk of the population. "Red monarchy" (in North Korea – precisely a monarchy with all the necessary attributes, in my opinion). This is natural, since equality is implied not in the standard of living of everyone, but in the correspondence of a person's standard of living to the contribution that this person makes to the development of his society. A leading engineer will never have as many benefits as a simple worker. But any simple worker should have an equal opportunity with everyone else to become a leading engineer. Panama can do whatever it wants. But wasn't pressure put on it? In Yugoslavia, everyone was engaged in ethnic cleansing. And even more so – Muslims, on whose side the same jihadists from Asia fought. But for some reason only the Serbs were convicted of genocide and bombed… Only their territory of historical residence was taken away from them. Does this seem fair to you? Not to me. Maybe someone just really wanted to create the largest NATO base in Europe there? A very convenient place for that. Is Lukashenko worse than Macron? Under Macron, thousands of people were beaten and even killed in the streets of France. Do you still remember the "yellow vests"? Did anyone condemn the French dictator? Of course not. The Russian puppet was a president legally elected in several rounds of voting and with the participation of Western observers. How would you feel about the fact that tomorrow in Australia a crowd of young men, openly and publicly supported by Russians, Chinese, Iranians and whoever else, will overthrow the president you voted for? I am glad that the Russian media allows you to relax. Just yesterday, Vence's speech in Munich was funny. Grattan54, I wonder how grateful Iraq is to you for what you have done? |
Legion 4 | 14 Feb 2025 7:36 p.m. PST |
Can Panama use its legal channel as it sees fit and enter into agreements with whichever party it sees fit? Or can it be subjected to pressure from some third party? When the US left the Panamanian gov't in charge of the Canal. Part of the agreement was to come to their defense if threated. IMO, with the PRC/CCP controlling both ends of the canal. Well the two ports San Cristobol and Balboa, IIRC. Last time I was there was '83, with the 101.Was deployed there 3 times for training and reinforce the US defense forces there. Plus now there are like 200,000 Chinese living in Panama. So Panama has my blessing to do what it wants Well 40% of the world sea traffic uses the canal. With the PRC/CCP now controlling both ends/the ports of the canal. Well, seems like the something may be going on and the US may want to get involved. At least by making sure the US and Panamanian gov'ts have an understanding. I don't know what military assets the US still has down there ? And I am pretty sure of those 200,000 Chinese living there now … There are a good number of PRC/CCP agents living there running tailor shops, cantinas, etc. Panama can do whatever it wants. But wasn't pressure put on it? No pressure the US just made a deal with their gov't. So yes they depend on the US for their defense. Of course the US could claim there are Nazi's operating in those jungles. Trying to start the 4th Riech. The 82, 101, Rangers and USMC could clean them out in about 3 days … |

"…thousands of people were beaten and even killed in the streets of France. Do you still remember the "yellow vests"? Did anyone condemn the French dictator? Of course not." It is extremely daring to compare the French civil protests with the perpetual silence of a people completely corroded by fear and corruption like the Nazi-Russian one… at least in France the windows are safe and there are no extermination camps to send the dissidents…
