I'm wondering if any TMPers know of a good pictorial resource for this war, starting in early 30's and going on through end of WWII. I have the Schiffer book on The Armies of Warlord China, which is fantastic, but it only goes through 1928. Thanks in advance.

Hi Texaswalker,

China's Wars, Rousing the Dragon 1894-1949 by Philip Jowett would be a good start. Very well illustrated with a good portion of the book covering the Warlord Period and WWII. Worth a look. link

Kangzhan: Guide to Chinese Ground Forces 1937-45 by Leland Ness and Bin Shih may also be helpful. Preview version here: link

Ezza and Nevals,
thanks for the suggestions, the Jowett book and the Ness/Shih look like good pictorial sources, Jowett book is cheap, and I just bought the Ness/Shih on eBay, not too expensive.

Very strange, somehow I have achieved time travel, posting answers to previous posts before they come up.
