I am satisfied with the procedures for musketry in the rules we use: "Victory without Quarter". This allocates a set number of dice to a unit, which can fire anytime the unit is activated, and which gains a +1 for volleyfire. Modifications for range, target etc & to re-gain volleyfire privileges, you need a reload card to appear in the deck, or you need to order the unit to reload during an activation. All this works fine, IMO.

I am interested in firing procedures for historical interest.

I gather there was no mechanisms to allow part fire eg such as company fire? The entire unit fired on command? Reloading was also on command? I know musketeers carried ammunition ( the famous 'apostles') but was there battlefield ammunition supply mechanisms?
