USS Zumwalt a fully-electric power and propulsion surface combatant is needed for the power required. Gas turbine powered ships would need time to recharge.

Yes! I have been waiting for this and mentioned it here a number of times..

Armand, all those new Chinese weapons you post for us will have to deal with this!

NEVER runs out of power???

For certain values of "never", anyway. Nuclear power plants on Navy ships get new fuel cores after about 10 years, if I recall correctly, which is rather longer than most naval engagements.

The test comes as a Homeland Security Advisor and billionaire Marc Andreessen suggested AI-powered jets will be the main fighters in future wars.

The flying ED-209: what could possibly go wrong? His comments about aircraft being able to do more without a human pilot aboard are well taken, but that doesn't require AI. A remotely-piloted aircraft would be work as well (and that generation already plays video games) and be more reliable.

I was being skeptical about Power.
I should've been clearer and meant the construction itself. I can't imagine it being anything but fragile, and needing constant maintenance by 19yo sailors.

The sharks with frikkin' laser beams on their heads are far more efficient, but they haven't figured out how to train them yet… ;-)
