As I understnad it, a platoon had four squads. Two of these were "light machine gun" squads (1 LMG, rest rifles) and two were "sub machine gun" squads (1-2 SMG, rest rifles).

Anybody know if these were numbered in any particular way?
For example, 1st & 2nd squads were always LMG, etc.
