I don't disagree with what we did, I just wish The President would speak softly while carrying the big stick…. Dave |

Nice to have a real president now. Really? I doubt the POTUS was involved in locating that target, he just gave permission, as all previous ones have. |

LBJ >*PTUI*< would have spent hours picking the targets himself. |

Herky they all take credit. Only thing different is do they give credit to the troops as well. It is his watch. It is the nature of the beast. Case in point "WASHINGTON, May 2, 2011 -- An intelligence-driven U.S. operation in Pakistan killed al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden yesterday, President Barack Obama announced in a nationally televised address from the White House late last night. "Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan," Obama said. "A small team of Americans carried out the operation with extraordinary courage and capability." |

Regardless, the POTUS gave the word to terminate those targets with extreme prejudice. After being briefed on the current situation. I'm sure that last POTUS could have done the same or similar. But with the last admin being risk adverse and fearing escalation. They didn't want to take time to look at what the real priorities were. Not what they wanted them to be. Lesson Learned or should be by our enemies … As opposed to the last admin. If this POTUS puts 2 Carrier Grps off the coasts in the Med or Red Sea, etc. They will not be there just for show. The strike assets of those Carrier Grps will turn certain targets in Yemen and Iran into rubble. |

link I'm sure that last POTUS could have done the same or similar. The link has a list of strikes in Somalia since 2009. Every US President has hit Somalia every year(except 2010) in that list in a pretty similar fashion. This strike appears no different and I am quite certain the Houthis's will be hit, again, at some point as well. Absent Iran pulling something new and spectacularly stupid, I do not expect something similar within that countries borders. |

The link has a list of strikes in Somalia since 2009. Every US President has hit Somalia every year(except 2010) in that list in a pretty similar fashion. True … but IMO the last admin could have been much more aggressive. I am quite certain the Houthis's will be hit, again, at some point as well. I'm giving it a pretty damn good chance with the new POTUS … and it will be hit hard too. To be effective it has to be. But I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. Absent Iran pulling something new and spectacularly stupid, I do not expect something similar within that countries borders. Iran was behind a lot of problems in the region. Not to mention their quest to get deployable nukes. Sanctions, etc. will be brought to into play first. But if Iran continues to try and upset the region, etc. I'd suspect the IDF and USA will drop HE & Incendiary among other conventional ordinance. On key targets in Iran … They are the head of the snake and consistently cause problems in the region. They have not given up their goal of driving the Israelis into the sea. And the US out of the region. |
