Missed getting a room for all four nights of the convention in the Marriot (logged in 12:30!). Does anyone know if HMGS will be able to obtain additional rooms?

Unlikely, as the Marriott will keep a section for other guests/reward members. Now that it sold out other hotels in the area will sell out quite quickly in response to people going to their backup plans.

A friend logged in at noon and was unable to get a room. Hard to believe it sold out that quick.

Last year it was gone in 15 minutes too. At noon I kept refreshing the page every 10 seconds at 12:03 the block opened and I booked my room.

There is a link on the Historicon website for a room block at at the Holiday Inn a couple of blocks away.

I didn't have any luck getting a room on line. Every minute from noon to 12:15 said no availability. So I called the hotel directly and got a reservation booked. So rooms were available, just couldn't be accessed on the Marriott web site.

I just reserved a room this morning 1/31 with no trouble. Oh, wait, I'm a vendor, maybe there is a separate block…?

There is a problem with the link that HMGS sent out. When you click on it, the Marriott site comes up with the dates set to July 16 – July 20. The Marriott people think the room block runs from July 17 – July 20, so the automated system will say that the rate is unavailable.

As usual, there was a glitch at noon online. Like someone forgot to press the button to go live. I had to keep going back and starting over. At about 12:04 maybe? it all worked.

I called at 12ish using call (717) 239-1600) Room block HGMHGMR from website. No rooms. A friend called at the same time and noted "Historicon" and got a room… so at least I have a place to stay….

Back on 5/19 the HMGS membership received an email which included info that our old stand by, the Wyndham (Host) was committing to hold a number of rooms (under 50) at $200 USD/night for HCon attendees. Interested persons should contact..l

Scott Landis director@historicon.org

$200 USD per night at 5 miles away.
