Genius to create a 3D effect in an essentially 2D model. You cannot beat a good spider hole or tunnel. Cannot be easy to keep on the coolie hat though in those tiny tunnels!

Just realised these are 15mm figures, so even more impressed

@deadhead thanks! 😎
Sure they don't wee coolie hat in the tunnel… but this was cool to make and fun to see! 😉

Oh how I agree. They look great. They were probably almost naked in the tunnels in reality.

I showed Gendarmes d'Elite in 28mm from the Garde Imperiale on this forum years ago. They were carrying three eagles into battle. Never mind that a cavalry unit NEVER carried an eagle into an attack, there was a logic (which I now forget) and they looked so good.

This is great modelling

Thanks again @deadhead ! 😎
Too realistic… the Gendarmes saved 3 infantry regiment eagle's! 🤫

Brilliant. Why did I not think of that? I had Gendarmes d'Elite in the surtout, the habit and also the helmet, instead of the bearskin, for the Maison du Roi. But each had an eagle.

They saved them for others. But then think, how few eagles were lost in true combat in the entire Napoleonic Wars?

The little figures you have shown here are just so imaginative and effective. Very unusual and a great posting.

I now want to see a Tunnel Rat preparing to enter one. I cannot imagine the guts that took

The Tunnel Rats are either very brave or completely crazy! 🫣

There were few flag eagles captured by the enemy… For example at Waterloo, there were only two. That of the 105th Line Regiment, taken by the Royal Dragoons, thanks to an attack led by Colonel A.K. Clark Kennedy. And that of the 45th Line Regiment, captured by Sergeant Charles Ewart, of the Scots Greys.
So lot of was saved… may be by the Gendarmes d'Elite ! 😉
