Hi 14Bore! The cloth is sea grey synthetic lining material laid over a thicker cloth. Very cheap and we agree, surprisingly effective!

Thanks again, BTW, its better to scrunch the 'sea' material into a plastic bag when not in use as it makes the sea 'wavier'!
