Last night, my gaming group (the Scrum Club) gave Free League Publishing's remake of GDW's famous old RPG Twilight 2000 a try. The results were very entertaining-- the game was as complex and deadly as I recall it was back in the 1980s, but the new version definitely plays faster and sports some spiffy mechanics. Very similar to the Aliens RPG. Twilight 2000 is very miniatures friendly and gives off a small scale skirmish vibe. I would recommend it.

Glad you could get a game in. I bought a copy with the thought of one day using it with 1/72 plastics.

I never knew they made a board game out of it. We played the miniature game a few times as they had a rules booklet and other booklets for different timelines. I couldn't get them really interested in it. Then someone here on TMP was looking for the figures probably 10 years ago, he hit the jackpot as I contacted him, and we met at Adepticon for the exchange. I never saw anyone so happy to finally find a good size group of the miniatures.

It's not really a boardgame. The maps and counters are play aids. They work remarkably well, but I could see where they counters could be replaced by smaller scale figures easily.
