Is this Tammy Bruce from Fox? First Hesgeth, now Bruce. Can Harris Faulkner be far behind? Who will be left to sit on the couch and give us the anti-View view? 🫣 Ochoin, you have been around here a long time. You must know which way the wind blows on this board. Engage at your own risk, so to speak. And my opinion, there is plenty of goofy theater with Trump. See what the outcomes are. He is in sales, not governance. It's all done with jive, like reality tv. You are right about bargaining chips. And Canada will always be safe. Trump just took office, he deserves some time. We are probably more stable than we appear. It is a weird time in US history, IMO. These leaders in other nations know you have to praise and show deference, and Trump can turn on a dime if they cross him personally. No one is really giving up much for now in any case. The deportations are more symbolic, not yet ramped up. Bukele won't be so happy if a million deportees show up on his doorstep. But we don't have a way to pay for this right now, very busy restructuring executive branch powers, while everyone talks about Greenland, etc. |

A buncha threads got nuked here -- replying to a deleted thread: tank battles on the Canadian prairie, local forces + SF in their own bitter little war out in the 'quiet' western sector, Nah – you could just as well see the central and western provinces just decide America's a better deal and join the US. So then you're really just talking about parts of Ontario and Quebec…and really, how much of a fight would they put up? Gun ownership in Quebec Province is only 0.2% of the population! |

Ok we get Greenland. You get certain selected cities in California. Also a couple in Oregon and Washington. We could throw in Chicago and much of NYC. Not enough, ok we throw in a bag of wampum and some liberals to be designated later. Oh and the current leadership of Disney and the cast of the View. WINNING!! Tort, you can read many documents on the "possible" effects of tariffs on the economy. As with everything written, the perceived impact depends on the political bent of those writing. Trump haters, or Trump supporters. That is not my opinion, just the facts of politics. Tariffs impacts have to be watched over a period of time for impacts. Some are fast, the country impacted buckles and makes concessions quickly.. as we've seen. Sometimes product cost go up in the short term. This should lead to new building in the US and companies coming back. Remember we are not just impacted, so are the countries we set tariffs on. Countries have been slapping unfair tariffs on our products for decades. Talking to other countries has done nothing for us. You, as I know, this is not a short term thing. I could have taken the Democrats Pat line: "Trump inherited the Biden disaster!". But I didn't. 😉 |

Sorry for the broken English above, I was sitting on a runway with a cell phone, not a phone typist. My last source appeared to show that per capita GDP in a number of European countries exceeds that of Mississippi. I am not against some tariffs, and understand there has been and will be some pain. Didn't Biden continue with the original Trump Tariffs? I looked at an agriculture sector, this from S&P Global, not a liberal source as far as I know… "US soybeans losing China to Brazil During the US-China trade tension of 2018, the US Department of Agriculture estimated total loss to US farmers at $27 USD billion. The Trump administration paid $23.1 USD billion in farm assistance to placate its seething farming community. However, trade flows seem to have been disrupted permanently, market sources said. This was seen in the soybean market in particular. Previously, China, the world's largest soybean buyer accounting for more than 60% of total global soybean trade, relied heavily on US supplies. However in recent years amid diplomatic skirmishes and trade conflicts, the Asian powerhouse re-routed its demand for the oilseed to Brazil and Argentina. Once a trade flow is established, it is very hard to upend it, a Shanghai-based agricultural consultancy said. Until 2012, China imported nearly half of its soybeans from the US, according to USDA data. However, in the last decade, Brazil emerged as the largest supplier of the product to China and the world. In 2024, China's total soybean imports reached a record-high 105 million mt, with Brazil accounting for nearly 70% of the supplies and the US accounting for roughly 20%, the latest data from the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China data showed." Are we putting ourselves in jeopardy by restricting free market trade activity in some areas? Or can we absorb this as we reap a better outcome long term? |

Back on topic -- this reporter says Canada has become a nexus for Chinese government and mafia production and distribution of Fentanyl, with the tacit acquiescence of the Trudeau government. Canada has become a Chinese drug production hub Cooper says it is. After "ten years researching" he has written a book arguing that Chinese Communist party officials, businessmen and drug traffickers have "established a production hub in Canada." Called "Wilful blindness: how a network of narcos tycoons and CCP agents have infiltrated the West," its cover illustrates what Cooper sees as the center of a network of Chinese corruption and crime. "The cover shows a graphic photo of Vancouver on a world map with fentanyl pills exploding out of Vancouver going around the world." "Vancouver has become a production hub for China and a trans-shipment hub for fentanyl precursors." Cooper says that whilst he is "not pleased with Donald Trump's rhetoric," he maintains, "This gets to what Donald Trump is saying." "It's hard for many people to believe that Canada could be put in the same category as Mexico in terms of endangering the United States with fentanyl, illegal immigration and human trafficking," Cooper says, before adding "…but my research has showed that indeed this is the fear and concern of the U.S. intelligence Community, military and law enforcement." Included in the article link is the news that the largest ever drug "superlab" bust in Canada (with ties China and Iran) was operating in Vancouver that manufactured and shipped 100 MILLION doses into the US with ease because of lax border and port security. link |

You're touchy about your national anthem and we're touchy about our independence. Is Trump trolling? According to Steve Bannon – no. I agree. Lilley Unleashed interview with Steve Bannon 51st state? No way…after nearly two and half centuries, that should be obvious. Redefining our bi-national relationship? Absolutely. Expanding NORAD to North American Defence? Good idea Artic sovereignty concerns? It's been discussed in every Canadian defence paper I've ever read. The issue's been getting government money behind it. So, yes, defence spending must go up. But do note that we do have the 2nd largest arctic icebreaker/patrol fleet…and we're building more. Statista Data Chart Free movement of goods, services and workers? Sure Customs and immigration harmonization? Why not? A lot of areas for discussion. My concern is that the message is getting lost and emotions are running high here. |

It's easy to exaggerate the animosity. I took my daughter to a women's pro league hockey game a few weeks ago, and everyone stood respectfully for both "O Canada" and "The Star Spangled Banner"- just like they always do, in my experience. |

Shadoe01, I think the difference has always been most of us take what he said as a joke and a method for him to get concessions. He did the same with "the little rocket man". Yet they came together and talked and things got quiet. I think Canadians take it more seriously. I don't know a person here who wants Canada as more States in the US. I sure Don't. At least not Eastern Canada, (too liberal for my tastes). Does Trump like Justin Trudeau? No. Do a lot of Canadians? But… If Canada and the US meet in another match in the US, look for some heavy booing during your anthem. Yes very much like that combined WW2 unit. Oh and you can still have hockey. 😉 |

So now remember Trumps 51st state. One big reason is because of things like this now: "Canadian traffickers are advertising an alleged human smuggling operation for illegals looking to enter the U.S. across the northern border openly on TikTok, according to a new report. "cad to usa," reads a screenshot of a message from user @helper4731. ‘dm me.' The account and several others like it were no longer accessible Monday. The legitimacy of the advertisements could not immediately be confirmed, but TikTok told Fox News Digital the videos had been removed because they violate the platform's community standards, which prohibit content that promotes any form of human smuggling. "The danger is they're gonna go where we're not," Rep. Ryan Zinke, a Montana Republican and chairman of the Northern Border Security Caucus, told Fox News. "The northern border has had hundreds of crossings from people on the terrorist watch list." Subject: Alleged TikTok smugglers advertise Canada to US border passage | Fox News link |

Does Trump like Justin Trudeau? No. Do a lot of Canadians? Trudeau's disapproval rating was… 74% angusreid.org/trudeau-tracker …and the Liberal Party had sunk to 16% and were on track to not only be booted from government but were likely to not even be the official opposition. Angus Reid poll So,the answer to your question is 'NO'. But… If Canada and the US meet in another match in the US, look for some heavy booing during your anthem. Of course. I doubt Canadians want this either Of course not, but the border's over 5,000 miles long. One could send 10,000 troops but that's just 2 per mile. With support and rotation for 24/7, that's hardly anyone most of the time. We'll need a more imaginative, cost-effective solution than that. Oh, and it's cold…very cold. This is from 2022. Migrants Freeze to Death Today temps were -40 or less (celsius or fahrenheit…doesn't matter). Anyway, in 3 weeks we will have a new Prime Minister. Everyone expects it will be Mark Carney, former Governor of the Bank of Canada and the the Bank of England. At least he'll know something about economics. A national election will follow almost immediately. So, we'll see who's in charge then. So, Trudeau is yesterday's news here. Even his own party has been running away from many of his policies as they've been very unpopular….for good reason. |

@SBminisguy, Yeah, it's something like that. In fact, two of the guys fighting each other play for the same US team. The first American guy to toss his gloves has a Canadian mother and players for the Ottawa Senators. It's just hockey! So just remember when you listen to your US media talking about Canada being woke, soft, etc. Don't be deceived.
