As soon as she said that the 17th was a Royal Regiment, I turned it off.

John maybe I should correct her then

I think she meant "royal" to signify that the king had money to properly outfit and equip light dragoon regiments in style.

That is NOT what "Royal Regiment" means.
The British army was NOT a "Royal Army", unlike the Royal Navy, or much later the Royal Air Force.
The 16th was indeed "Royal" because it had Royal patronage.
This was very much due to the traditional British mistrust of a standing army. (Which we Yanks inherited. 🙄😄)
The Army is funded by Parliament, through the quaintly named Mutiny Act.
I stand to be corrected, but…

I'm picky. If I see a mistake at the very beginning of a "long" video (short attention span) I immediately stop wasting my time.

For more on the 17th, see this.

It definitely did NOT have royal patronage.

By the way, the 17th was one of the very first AWI regiments that I painted. I used the still superb Hinchliffe figures.

Skip,
Interesting video, and once you ignore the rivet counters, has some good information. Thanks for posting.

As the father of a teenage girl college History major, it is nice to see a young woman talk about military history.

Kate seems to be very interested in American Revolution history and especially horses.
She has quite a few videos and took place in the reenactment of Christmas Washington's crossing of the Delaware

I let the Perry's do all the research then I buy them, then I paint them.

@john the OFM

As soon as she said that the 17th was a Royal Regiment, I turned it off.

I am surprised you got past "the greatest army on earth"

However, it's clear when she said "Royal" she meant 'Crown'
(as opposed to 'Continental').

But what she was thinking when she referred to the helmets of the 17th bearing the legend "Death or Glory," I can't imagine, when eny ful kno they simply displayed a skull with the words 'Or Glory' beneath. Shocking.

Not bad. I'd give it a B. Never once did she say "calvary" so there is that. The illustrations are well meshed with her narration. A kid who watches it will know more at the end than he did before.

What is the young lady's age? Was this done as a school project?

No, she is young but a serious historian and especially with horses. She is in England and Scotland right now touring historical sites. She has other videos.

I enjoyesd the video of her chat with George Washington
