I got my wargaming year of to a fun start last weekend with a little Arnhem adventure, well not that little, as I joined friends to fight out Tuesday 19th September 1944 around LZ-L near Oosterbeek.

I had the pleasure of assuming the role of Brigadier John 'Shan' Hackett as 4th Parachute Brigade spent a gruelling day battling with Kampfgruppes Kraft, Allworden, Spindler and Bruhns.

Looks a really great game.

Lots of figures, terrain and using a well prepared scenario.

Also interesting to see how it played out vs actual.

For rules O Group would be an interesting experiment but could also try it with Fire and Fury Battlefront?

I think some of the people who made the scenario may have also had a hand in creating O Group rules, Mark Davies for one (aka RMD)?

Thanks for posting JJ 😊👍

Hi BB,
Thanks for your comment and your remarks about Fire and Fury's Battlefront rules which did come up in our conversation as most of us have a copy, but several of us including me have not played them.

I have to say on first reading, I like them, especially the artillery rules which look like some of the best ideas I've seen for replicating the complexities and replication of it on the table and I really must see if I can get a game with them to see how they play.

Cheers

Yes Battlefront's artillery rules are probably the best I've come across for WW2.

There's also some extra downloads on the Fire and Fury website that explain and expand the various national artillery traits.

Well worth a look 😊👍
